We did not complain, we were as happy as pigs in shit... but if we had stayed and started to live in the US, this would be normal and we would expect to live as others.

Of course Poles in Britain work harder, they get ten times the wage as in Poland, but their children, will want to live a normal live with normal career.

So if working harder gets you to the top will the UK be run by Poles in 20 years? NO the people who will run the UK in 20 years are at Eton the elite private school for the rich.

A few Poles may make it rich, but money stays in the hands of the rich. Thats the class system.

yet you had the chance to leave and do better and didn't.

one excuse is much like any other.

They declare bankruptcy and within a year of the bankruptcy they are starting to get offers to get credit again. The creditors figure that these people can't declare bankruptcy again for another seven years so they offer them credit.

If you are young you get inundated with credit. My nephew just graduated high school a few months back and turned 18 about a month ago. He has never held a job and not a day goes by that he doesn't get some kind of offer in the mail from people wanting to give him a credit card or a loan.

so what?
your nephew is also offered drugs, alcohol, gay sex, etc. etc.
being offered a thing is not free license to abuse it.
you're not really blaming creditors for borrowers' bad decisions, are you?

Life is not school, I am where I am because I want to be for the moment.

No. I was responding to someone who said that immigrants have an advantage because when they come to this country they get a clean slate as far as credit rating goes so they have an easier time getting credit. I was simply pointing out that credit is pretty easy to get for everyone who wants it.

no, actually what it means if you cared for the facts is that its easy to become successful in America.
Very little of our wealth is generational which means that our bottom has a better chance to become our top than any other country, most especially the UK.

In 2005, The Economist wrote that

evidence from social scientists suggests that American society is much "stickier" than most Americans assume. Some researchers claim that social mobility is actually declining. A CAP study of 2006 found that:
By international standards, the United States has an unusually low level of intergenerational mobility? Among high-income countries for which comparable estimates are available, only the United Kingdom had a lower rate of mobility than the United States.

As usual the facts are in conflict with your views.

I see there's no link to your so called facts. typical of you.
and I'm sorry, here in America, we don't take the *claim* of *some* as fact.

1.what did the college drop out bill gates' father do?
2. warren buffet's father had a net worth of what?
3. what was the college drop out sheldon adelson's first job?
4. Larry Ellison (the college drop out) was born to a 19 year old unwed mother
5. Paul Allen's dad was a librarian

seems none of the top 5 richest Americans fit your lie.
oh well, realizing anyone can succeed in this world and understanding you haven't is a bitter pill (I hear) but keep telling yourself whatever keeps the finger pointed at someone else.

Compared to our Filipino staff most of them cannot compete. Which is an indictment on the US education system.

You are probably trying to pay shitty wages or advertising to the wrong people. If you try to pay Filipino wages here in the US then yes you will get shitty applicants. Pay people decently for their time and you will get better applicants.

A few notable exceptions do not make a rule.

You can search " social mobility USA " and find out for yourself. If that is too difficult Wikipedia will confirm.

I didn't cherry pick exceptions. I took the top 5 richest in order.
If I had more time, I could do the top 200.

America is STILL the land of opportunity.
The end. :winkwink:

Sorry, chump change. Wikipedia is where the info on the top 5 richest Americans came from.
There will always be a lack of social mobility for the stupid.
