My recommendation, turn it into a user submitted website. And read up on DMCA |
hmmm? okay... actually then we've been on the right track... ours is user submitted too (the gossip section) and I actually have joined affiliate programs for models who I haven't gotten permission from... The modeling section I've gotten permission from every single one of them AND their photographer (if we didn't do it ourselves)... But for the main part, the gossip section doesn't have watermarks on any pictures
But once again you just gave me some ideas and some stuff I'll look out for... now this is the reason I've join.. thanks again Pseudo.... |

If youre going to mix that section with affiliate (self submitted content) with user submitted content, i'd just stay away from watermarking all the content in that section. Plus theres really no need. |

That section now is almost 100% user submitted... even the cell phone pictures... I also agree on the no watermark in that section too... |

A contact email should be on the front... if not it's going up right now.. also i should make a DMCA link... see? this is why I like you!

The picture that started this thread was NOT done to act as though I did it... I was actually just complimenting the girls' ass... it had our watermark on it (done by a staff member) and when it was brought to my attention I corrected the action... I'm not a thief under any circumstances... |

you shouldn't be watermarking material unless you own the rights or were given permission, no question. Innocent or not it should be a no-brainer, once you watermarked it you acknowledge you have seen it (doesn't matter who actually watermarked it, your company name is on it) so if it is user submitted it could be mis-construde by other webmasters and affiliates.
You have a fantastic fresh looking site and clearly work hard on it, just be careful on these kind of technicalities, it could get you a bad rep before you know it and could be undeserved. |

I don't know why people don't realize that other people can simply make mistakes? |

damn, I missed the pic!
People should relax a little. Unlike a lot of other companies here - *cough* media revenue *cough* he kept replying, admitted he was wrong and fixed the situation. Maybe this is sad because I expect so little from people on this board now. Every webmaster here has made mistakes along the way. This guy seems to be trying to do the right thing, shoots great content and listens to critiques when they are constructive. Also, he admits when he is wrong. You don't see a lot of that going on around here anymore. |
Fight to the death.
