It's not my responsibility to make that announcement. Nor is it my responsibility to alert the affiliates. If/when the site owner decides to make that announcement, they will.

The only way he might be justified to go out of his way to warn people, is if they are about to rip a bunch of people off. But im sure he doesnt know anyway, as if a program would let their photographer know if they plan on paying people out or not.

If either: they are a ccbill company, they still are going to pay everybody out and eventually shut the doors, it hasn't launched yet or they're putting an end to further production...

then him saying it's not his responsibility is true.

Im just saying no point in speculating unless he gives more detail about the situation or until the situation unfolds. Or else you could be wrongfully accusing a respected photographer, give him the benefit of the doubt.

The truth is no online site has ever been able to employ a top offline shooter in their niche.

Do you see Steve Hicks or Viv Thomas working for Twistys or Only Tease?

Ben Dover or John Stagliano working for a Gonzo sponsor?

OK these are top of their game guys.

Was a website ever able to offer me and Eva enough to get us to shoot for them full time?

And I'm a bottom end magazine shooter.

No the truth is offline would pay all of us more than online ever would. Now offline is gone a few are still working online. But not many have the experience and ability to of worked in offline. And now online is sliding down even Dean is feeling the pinch.

Good luck Dean, I hope you find something soon.

Still I think you owe it to people to let them know who you will no longer be working for. Maybe a future employer is sending them traffic. Won't sit nicely if they find out you knew and kept it quiet, unless you have a confidentiality agreement.

your stuff will never be HQ, more LQ

I'm sorry if my post bothered you. I still stand by that statement.

The client may be preparing a statement, a press release or taking other actions that do not involve me or that I'm aware of. It would not be appropriate for me to make any public statements beyond what I've made. If that scratches you the wrong way and pisses you off, so be it.

My loyalty is with my clients (past, present and future) and they need to know that they can chat with me about confidential matters and that I'm not going to run to GFY and feed the trolls & drama queens with that information. Obviously, if I thought that there was a chance that people would get ripped off or taken advantage of, I would have handled this differently. But nothing has given me that impression so I handled this the way that I thought was appropriate.

If you were a client of mine, or a reputable businessman, you would appreciate how I handled this matter. Only a fucking moron would get upset with me about this :321GFY

Had you not mentioned that the site owner was about to pull the plug, it wouldn't have been an issue, but mentioning that you know of a site which will likely fold within the next few months while fully knowing that many people here are owed money by sites which have folded in the past, and not revealing that information in a thread you started for the sake of replacing the personal business you have lost because of it's impending demise is about as selfish and low class it gets. :2 cents:

I think we all know a bunch of shit about a lot of other people... and just because it may affect you, or whoeverthefuck, some way or some how... it does not make it my responsibility to go and tell them what I know.

Unless someone's life is in danger. Or someone's personal safety. Or maybe if it might result in global economic meltdown, like if I had the inside scoop on Bernie Madoff's ponzie scheme... MAYBE you'd have a moral obligation to tell someone. But holy shit, we're talking about someone shutting down a program. That's it. It's not an implication of fraud, it's not an implication of anything illegal occurring. The mere expectation a program will be closing does not imply that people won't get paid. In fact, you have no fucking idea what it's an implication of... just that the program is closing.

It would be in everyone's best interest to not to yell "fire" in a crowded theater.

It will only serve to make you look like a fucking asshole to everyone you do business with.

So, you won't 'run to GFY and feed the trolls and drama queens with that information', but you will run to GFY looking to replace the business that you lost because of that information?

Given that you have absolutely no idea as to what the scope of my non-adult business entails, I find it awfully presumptuous of you to insinuate that I am not 'reputable' or that I am quite simply a 'fucking moron'. I did not insult you personally and don't see why you feel the need to get pissy and defensive, but passing judgement seems to be your thing, so I really don't give a fuck.

I think you are an excellent photographer from a technical standpoint and it seems like you're able to establish a good rapport with your models, most of whom are very hot, so I really do wish you the best of luck in replacing the business. Combine all that with the fact that your work lacks creativity and imagination and will never be a threat to overwhelm the image or look of an existing brand, I imagine that you'll find plenty of takers.:thumbsup

I agree with almost all of the above. The In The Crack photographer was just dragged through the mud and I give him the benefit of the doubt. I'd also certainly give you the benefit of the doubt. I can name a lot of people that whom I'd give the benefit of the doubt. At first, I even gave Dean the benefit of the doubt, but the tone of his second post combined with the pseudo 'above-the-fray' attitude with which he carries himself led me to not give him the benefit of the doubt.

Yes one could afford to pay for good content the other couldn't.

Just a thought on the original post.

Maybe there's no site or program closing and Dean's just looking for more work. We will all know soon enough, for Dean to be shooting for them they're not a tin pot operation like some. Most here couldn't afford his end.
