Laptop, plugged into another monitor with spanning so I have dual screens, full size keyboard and trackpad plugged in.

desktop

Only desktop, with laptop, I don't feel serious whatever that I do.It reminds me on people at restaurants staring into laptops, probably without good reason. Whenever I try to do something on laptop,I quit fast. Recently sold one and another I am almost not using.

Laptop for work.

Desktop for gaming.

I can't even remember the last time I had a desktop. I just set up my desk with extra monitors, speakers, wireless mouse/keyboard on a hub so I can just plug my laptop in and out as needed with no fuzz.

Why can't you use dual monitors on yours?

I can use an external monitor along side of it if I wanted but that wouldn't be too comfortable while on the couch. Also have an issue with a different sized screens next to each other. I like the almost seamless look. Tried it for a bit on my old laptop and a old lcd and hated it. I've got matching 19's on my desktop and love them. I'd like to get bigger though, maybe dual 24's.

laptop is useless and waste of time as a main computer unless it weighs less than 4lbs, res of 1920x1200 (1080p is acceptable i guess), matte screen, have at least 8 hour battery life, 4 ram slots, and an acceptable video card (equivalent to 460gtx minimum)

BIGTYMER 09-06-2011 03:28 AM

I use them all. Desktop, laptop, iPad, iPhone. Most of the work is done on the desktop.

V_RocKs 09-06-2011 04:10 AM

I used to use only a laptop back in 1999 - 2004. Then I bought a computer and now when I use a laptop I am actually remotely connected to my main computer so I have all of my shit handy.

Only a laptop. Always.

Maybe one day I'm gonna get an iMac or Mac Pro if I build a house or have an office room at home :)

Haven't had a desktop for a couple years now.

Va2k 09-06-2011 05:32 AM

I made the switch after being in the hospital for so long, I do have my desktop for storage and video editing which I can use this laptop for both, but then I use team viewer so I can work from laptop to main desktop! I know weird lol

I have two laptops.. Can not stand Desk tops.

One is just the regular lap top with an external mouse. the other has a second monitor added as well as mouse and external back up drive.

It is powerful enough and hooked to an external 27" monitor is perfect for work, plus you have the portability to travel or to do some work from home if needed without having to sync to desktops at home/office as i did in the past. I even got rid of my home desktop and now i only use the macbook everywhere.

The constant syncing is what I had to get away from. Too much trouble.

This is true.

MacBookPro is my main workhorse, have two medium to high end PCs at home i dont use for much past photo editing and coding.

to get a really powerful laptop you will pay at least twice what you would for the same spec'd desktop. :(

JamesGw 09-06-2011 10:40 AM

I really don't like working on a laptop, for whatever reason. I use my desktop for gaming and pretty much everything else. I do have a tablet, though.

WarChild 09-06-2011 10:58 AM

I can't imagine trying to run Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate and SQL Server 2008R2 on a notebook. Would have to be one hell of a machine I guess.

fuzebox 09-06-2011 11:18 AM

I don't even travel with my main notebook, I'm just used to the form factor. I like having very few cables, and being able to up and move quickly if I have to.
