What's his excuse for his first two years of utter failure, when the democrats had complete control of the House, the Senate, and presidency?

It's like calling in an exterminator for a rat problem, then when he gets there you blame the exterminator for the problem. The republicans just got there, sent by the voters to clean up the mess!

He is to blame. The republicans basically promised to filibuster anything and everything he wanted to pass. They took the stance that if he was for it, they were against it no matter what it was. He and the democrats could have forced them to act by forcing them to actually follow through with these filibusters and making themselves look bad, but instead he and the democrats lost their backbone and caved in.

I think he felt like they would sweep in, pass healthcare reform, get the stimulus package done and then they could go to work on whatever else needed to happen, but after the fights that those two things took he started adopting a philosophy of trying to make the republicans happy and that was never going to happen so he did little or nothing and just hoped everything would work out okay.

But I ask, the republicans have now been in control of the house for 1.5 years. Where is their jobs bill? All they really have passed was a deficit reduction plan that they knew had no chance of going anywhere. They don't seem to have any desire to fix the problem either. They seem only interested in getting rid of Obama. Having the economy in the shitter gives them the best chance of doing that so they have no motivation to work with him.

you invent as you go ....

Just an added note. In my post above it should say that the republicans have been in control of the house about 9 months now. . . not 1.5 years.

1.5 years? January 5, 2011 is when the Republicans took over the Lower House. And they cant have a Jobs bill without control of the Upper House, all they can do is piggyback on what the Upper House and Barry already have in place.

Even the german news reportet about it. It must have been a great speach.

I saw my typo, but it was too late for me to be able to edit it. They have been in control of the house for about 9 months now.

They can feel free to pass bills and send them on to the senate. It is a two way street. They did it with their deficit reduction bill even though they knew it would be DOA upon arrival at the senate. If they had a legit jobs bill they could pass it, send it to the senate and then work with them to come up with a version of it that the senate would pass. Since the dems control the senate they would have to do this on the democrats time, but they could do it.

The reality they have no legit plan, or at least they don't want to put one out until after the election. They want the economy to be bad so that it hurts Obama and gives them a better chance of wining back the white house so they came back into power in the house on the campaign chant of "Jobs, Jobs, Jobs!" and like the democrats they too have done nothing to follow through on that promise.

He panders to the least of us and they lap it up.
Get it?
Or do you lap it up like BFT3K and gatorB?

Even my liberal friends, who voted for Obam, are saying this speech sucked and that the $400+ billion he wants will just go to special interest groups like the last stimulus packages. After all he has to start paying back those super pacs and corporations that will fund his reelection.

Agreed. Obama needs to stop the appeasement bullshit, and pass a jobs bill like the new deal. Pumping billions into public works projects to fix bridges, roads, and crumbling infrastructure. Most of it was designed to last 50 years, and it's well over that now.

It would put a lot of these construction companies back to work (since the housing will not be turning around any time soon) and pump a lot of money into jobs, and the economy. While also investing in THIS country, instead of others like Iraq.

50 Obama is a moron

people who build houses, don't build bridges and roads.
If we hadn't wasted trillions on needless things, we'd still have money for important things.

I watched the speech with the understanding that no matter what he says or what his plan is it still has no chance of passing. The repubs will blast it and wait on it, slow it down and let it die.

because the tea party will not let the repubs sign on to wasting more money than they already have.

You have to spend money to make money.

I would agree with you on this except that in this case using the word 'spend' would make a vocal minority in the country lose their little minds. So it is important to note that it will be paid for by cuts proposed by the super committee :winkwink:

those of us who actually run businesses and pay taxes understand that "spend" is government speak for "waste"

In the case of government spending to make money that is a broken window fallacy.

We really need 2 different Americas at this point. This is not working.

Maybe IQs under 100 can take back the South, and those with IQs over 100 can keep the North.

And then I want a fence with barbed wire and machine guns.

Yeah some of us have enough intellectual honesty to admit when we made a mistake. If your favorite team got a new quarterback and he went 2-16 for his first three seasons would you admit he was a bad draft?

The poor and uneducated are the one's who blindly support Obama. Move south, way down south, as in Mexico.

Historic unemployment rates along with record federal debt. After 3 years you would hope these idiots understand that even more government spending doesn't create jobs. Obama sugar coated his tired agenda in a partisan filled rhetoric speech.

Few Obama supporters got it, but most are starting to see the light. There is a reason why his approval ratings are at there lowest. There is a reason why there was a huge shift in the house and senate last year.
