Congratulations on your purchase. I did the PC to Mac UPGRADE, THE WONDERFUL UPGRADE, THE FUCKING FANTASTIC UPGRADE, myself a while back. Woot Mac.

Mac Air Rules

My "Queen of the Garage Sales" found a kickass leather portfolio awhile back. 2 week ago, I got a Mac Air 11." People go beautiful portfolio, then when I pull out the Air, are blown away. Got Max RAM & harddrive. Just plug it into cheap Gateway monitor. Granted, there are still programs that only Windows run. But I have run Parallels ever since my 1st MacBook Pro over 7 years ago. I am down to 6 Windows programs, one of which was a OS X program, they just haven't written a Lion version.
When upgrade time comes or just adding new programs, you'll see the time & effort you save. I walked into a coffee shop and had instant access to wifi. The girl at the next table had a Windows laptop and was crying as she couldn't get wifi.
Hate to say it, but a Windows computer is like a horse & buggy. You can deny those horseless carriages will ever amount to anything, but your denial is crap.
Not a noobie. I've been around since DOS. Even taught some high dollar programer that using the F2 key would allow you to change a file name rather than typing a log string of gibberish to update the junk software his company was trying to sell us.

dgraves 09-18-2011 02:54 AM

how is imovie to work with?

SomeCreep 09-18-2011 03:45 AM

My ipad has most certainly converted me from a pc to a mac. I shouldve converted sooner.

NewbieNudes 09-18-2011 05:12 AM

Keep the macbook air - just install windows 7 on it with bootcamp. MacbookAir + Windows 7 = Mobile computing nirvana.

bloggerz 09-18-2011 07:22 AM

LOL, that's what I get a kick out of as well. To me a computer is just a tool to do a task. If you prefer one over the other, more power to you. I simply don't care. I'm sure a Mac can do everything I need it to just fine, and maybe even better, but as of now I have no reason to test it out. Maybe someday.

So if someone doesn't like Apple then they're just a hater? Aren't you calling them haters because they don't care for your choice of computer? That kind of snobbery is exactly why some of us dislike the Apple fanboy mentality. Do me a favor. Hit cmd+space and type hypocrisy and tell me if it sounds like anyone you know.

helterskelter808 09-18-2011 10:02 AM

Macs are PCs, and have been for years.

Mac users do not know this however, because, with their adorable infant minds, they are oblivious to anything that isn't shiny, bouncy or can't be dragged around and dropped.

No! Just because someone doesn't like Mac doesn't make them a hater. But posting negative comments about people who use Macs - makes them a hater.

No, can you read? Seriously. I didn't say that at all. What I said was...."Anybody who would say anything negative about another person because of what kind of computer that they use is an imbecile."

I know, it's really comfortable concept for Windows users that Mac users like Macs for being bouncy and shiny. Enjoy buying anti-virus software and closing down notification balloons!

more like trannys... trannys alway have to say shit going to the ladies room, instead of bathroom etc... mac users are like that... instead of I'll check my email it's like, let me check the mac, it opens any file and I get all my emails... :1orglaugh

Haters are easily entertained...

iwantchixx 09-18-2011 01:28 PM

Goina suck when you have to pay out 300 bux for a dvd unit to reinstall the os whenever it needs a refresh :)

iwantchixx 09-18-2011 01:31 PM

And for the record I had a mac, got rid of it a month later, it's convoluted, needs way too much attention to just simple eject a disk, likes to eat disks and requires a needle to eject after many reboots when the machine suffers a crash and very unstable for the types of apps I was running such as aMsn, photoshop, sweet home 3d and a few other 3d rendering apps. The built-in browser is garbage. The way you have to manually add most shit to the tray area to be easily accessible is retarded and it overheats easily.

Oh and good luck replacing a something as simple as a hard drive that overheats. requires special screwdriver bits just to open the casing, must remove a few circuit boards and pray you don't destroy anything in the process.

Macs are not for technophiles. They are for people who don't mind buying a new one every year and a half or paying absurd amounts of money to have them serviced. Did you also know what all mac battery packs are designed to purposely kaput itself after so many charges? Many laptop makers are doing this now too but Apple set the standard for it lol

I'm sorry but speaking from a users standpoint, technophiles standpoint and technical standpoint Macs are just a status symbol. You don't gain anything anything with a Mac. In fact you lose many abilities and conveniences that a comparable Pc with Win7 on it already has for 1/3 of the price.

For sure. I think you saw what I was doing. It wouldn't be a good old fashioned Mac/PC thread without some gasoline on the fire. :thumbsup

Bottom line for me. Mac is way easier, and millions of less headaches and extra shit to do to accomplish the same thing.

You're a recent convert I think, so no need to point out the obvious to you.

For the rest. Keep on buying those PCs. They Rock!

Zoxxa 09-18-2011 01:48 PM

For developing ANYTHING, I could use nothing but a Mac. One click setup of a development environment with MAMP, so much shit comes pre-installed such as C, C++, Objective-C, Perl, Python, etc...

The speed of doing my work by running around my windows with expose and spaces is the fastest "browsing around" interface I have ever used.

People who rag on Mac make the joke of us liking shiny shit, the real magic of the mac happens in the terminal and the way the whole system just simply works together how it should. As a developer, the Mac is a fucking dream and windows simply can not compete unless you are coding PC games. I was a windows user for 13 years, and if I ever need it, I just switch over to my copy of XP with a click of a button. However, I have no reason to do so, and since the day I installed XP 6 months ago, I have not yet used it.

I have no beef with Windows at all, Windows 7 has improved dramatically, but I still feel it being a distance behind the Mac. Apple is constantly moving forward and leading the way with innovative ideas, not many companies around are doing that, especially Microsoft, so I will gladly dedicate my cash flow towards new Apple products.

Linguist 09-18-2011 02:05 PM

I'm a developer, switched from Windows to Mac as main OS in 2007 and haven't looked back. Native terminal, bash scripts, linux-like file structure, OS that's easy on the eyes and a community of people who care about aesthetics?

Yeah, I'll take that.

Mind you, I've a rack with sandy bridge i7 and windows 7 next to me and it gets constant mileage (audio software + games) but for day-to-day business it's Mac all the way.

Fuck do I know though, I'm just into drag and drop, have no clue about computers and jerk off at a thought of giving Steve Jobs lots of money every year.

Who's taking credit? Where in the above did he say that Apple invented the terminal? It's a known fact that Mac OS is based on UNIX, no one's claiming otherwise.

I never gave Apple credit for the terminal, I know it's a fucking unix-based system asshole.
In your case, reading between the lines would have made you look less like an ignorant tea party cunt.

I will agree with you, posts like that don't help the people that truly appreciate the Mac. I did not buy one just to rub it in other people's faces that it is expensive.

Oh, so you were aware that Apple 'innovated' by using an OS developed in the late 60s? After their previous 'innovation' of copying a system developed in the early 70s.

OOPS

Quote:

iPhone users are twice as likely to be influenced by the Tea Party than voters who carry an Android or Blackberry phone, according to a new online poll by Zogby/463.

In addition, iPhone users are twice as likely to believe that Sarah Palin ?speaks for them,? and 60 percent predict a Republican takeover of Congress this year.

lol

Thanks for proving my point, you quote an article that sarcastically prints the polls findings and actually doubts them multiple times during the article. This is the second time "reading" seems to be an issue for you. GET ER DONEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

Btw I am a Canadian and I can only assume you are American. You and your country are so fucked because of retards like yourself who protect the rich and thieving bankers but argue and complain about Steve Jobs and Apple's innovation, you will never get it, I am sure your god blesses and protects you.

It's "cultofmac.com". They're hardly likely to be proud of the fact that Appletards are Tea Party/Sarah Palin supporters, are they?

This is the second time you've babbled about "reading" when I've highlighted the clueless drivel and inane ad hominems you are spouting. You could have used your time to give a few examples of where Apple has 'innovated', but apparently you still haven't Googled any.

Fuck, you are so god damn stupid.

This would have been entertaining for a bit longer if you could at least follow my points. You don't have to agree with them, but just to simply understand them so that you could actually participate in this argument would have been fantastic. You have consistently displayed an immense lack of mental comprehension and I would not feel right about myself to continue arguing with a retarded child, since I do in fact donate $2 at my grocery store to help you out when they ask me.

Good luck with life!

it's not about which is better or worse... it's just a tool, not a lifestyle, for me anyway... the real magic is how touchy and defensive the mac guys are... and like I said before the constant references... it's like I would say something like this: I put gas in my Cadillac today, it was really easy, the gas went right in, no problems. my Cadillac will go on ANY freeway, and ALL the roads. see what I mean...? if you're a mac guy listen to yourself sometime...

For sure. I was teh fail at the sarcasms. It just wouldn't be a mac/pc thread unless someone incites a riot on purpose, which was all I intended. Mutual apology back for failing at the sarcasms.
