Before laws were made against CP it was still legal. So.....?

The age of consent is different to laws to do with pornography (leaving aside the fact she looks about 12 or younger in some of those pics, not 16 or 18).

For example, it's no longer "legal" for 16 year olds to appear in porn in the UK or other Euro countries, because those countries have changed their laws to fall in line with the US law of 18+. The reason for that, aside from possible US pressure, was probably to protect people under 16, who producers could claim were over 16. Less easy to claim a 14 year old is 18 than 16, right?

I also think the UK may be one of those countries with very strict rules against CP, where someone only has to "look" underage for there to be a prosecution. So regardless of whether they are "legal" in the US, they are not legal elsewhere.

The only point at issue is that even viewing these images is illegal in many of the countries in which board members are living - even if the titties (or lack thereof) are obscured.

From a moral perspective, the main issue should be whether these type of images lead to or reduce real offending. I remember reading recently that such a study was performed and it was found that virtual cp reduced the rate of real offending.
