linkspun is great, but it is running slower and slower by the day :(

takes me ages to do anything these days.

Yeah, I'll second that. I'll host it for free to speed the thing up.

Gotta agree with this too, It was very fast in the beginning and now it feels bloated and slow...but still it's an amazing tool.

Yeah create tool, you just need to learn how to budget you time between screen loads. A could purge of cheaters and inactive accounts would speed up the database some. :winkwink:

Moose 09-30-2011 01:39 PM

Hows it running now

Sly 09-30-2011 01:40 PM

The load issue is being worked on right now. I think over the next week you should all notice some speed improvements for sure.

XSV 09-30-2011 01:46 PM

You guys need to realize that with the owner MIA, we don't get feedback and we aren't users of the site, one of our admins has adjusted and cleaned up the DB and we've also let the programmer know about the issues we saw.

If anyone sees an issue in the future, please email it to support {at} amerinoc dot com.

It actually seems to be getting better already. The speed is tolerable now, whereas it was so slow before that I stopped checking.

About a week ago I started getting new trade requests again - and most of these requests were from half decent sites.

Matyko 09-30-2011 01:49 PM

we do trade links on linkspun, you [and anyone else! :pimp] will find us as 'matyko42' and 'netconvert'

Peace

CyberHustler 09-30-2011 01:52 PM

Another reason why I'm happy to be with Amerinoc...

Signed up over a year ago and never got anything going.

Well, that has changed and I am now open for trades. Take a look at what I have and see if we can do some quality trades.

Thanks Jay for bring this topic up. Helped kick me in the butt and get going. :)

I'm going to hit this thread with a nice bit of knowledge about trading links / link etiquette, I see a lot of people making some common mistakes.

This isn't exactly what I was talking about, but it's step #1 - I've notcies a lot of people don't ddo shit to keep their blogs updates, thus diminishing the value of the link...

Damn the site is slow!

Amerinoc do something! Don't you have a fast box to put that site in?

I think it's just the coding of the site...it used to be really fast when Link Spun first came out, now it feels sooo bloated...I don't think that's Amerinoc's fault though (at least I hope not!)

V_RocKs 02-09-2012 03:33 PM

When Linkspun started it was kind of thrown together quickly and it handled everything pretty good. As time went on it was sped up with an awesome box and programming tweaks...

But then Jdoughs went missing so Drocd couldn't keep adding more tweaks. The site was originally created with the idea of having perhaps 250,000 trades total and 50,000 of them active at any given time. Since then it has grown to over 750,000 trades with over 100,000 active. There are over 100,000 pages in the system and all of them need their PR checked over and over...

All of that is way more than anticipated with the system in its current form. But Drocd was going to tweak more with Jdoughs monitizing the site and being able to pay for the programming...

In his absence (Jdoughs), Drocd and I have come to an agreement where some tweaks will be made in the coming weeks to speed things up.

Also keep in mind TradeSpun.com can handle your mainstream trades!

I just fixed the PR checker there... You can manually update PR you know is wrong, but it should move through all of the sites PR within a few days.

Active? I'd say yeah... I have been doing so much moderation lately that my trade requests are back up to 300!

not their fault but last time it got slow like this amerinoc did 'something' and it sped up.

Just wanted to say thanks V_RocKs for helping to keep Link Spun going! It's just so easy to get quality backlinks and start ranking on good SE terms by using Link Spun.

Showman 02-09-2012 05:19 PM

Who owns and runs Tradespun? It'd be great if it can be kept up-to-date.

Same people... lol... Skeleton crew of Jdoughs friends...

I never really gave any thought to TS since I don't do much in mainstream...

So I finally opened an account there yesterday...

First thing I did was fix the PR checker. Then I added categories people asked for months ago... Now I will check the forum several times a week and see about creating some mainstream stuff to put on there. Doing very well with LS... I guess I should also be doing well with TS!

I saw you sped up linkspun with the new DB, you are my hero

mineistaken 02-21-2012 12:26 PM

Is there a way to export link trades? Lets assume linkspun is gone one day and now you have many trades on your sites, but you have no idea which trade is which, which link is traded with whom, especially if you do abc and abcd trades.
So is there a way to keep backup list of your trades?

Be careful of two things.

Some people think it's cute to add NoFollow tags after the trade is set up.
Some people are cloaking. Meaning showing the links on the page but hiding to Googlebot.

Just had a conversation about this with another LinkSpun trader this morning.

Those are the two most common things that the software can't help with.

Good luck.

E

Also any update on these 2 things? Somebody already mentioned that nofollow is monitored, what about cloaking thing?

TheSenator 02-21-2012 01:31 PM

TradeSpun.com fuck yeah!!!

I have sites that need some mainstream loving.

get a link management script like linkex and use that to add/remove your trades instead of by hand. will act as a backup management system + recip checker if (knock on wood) linkspun ever goes away
