50 Terra Novas
|
It has promise but there are some plot holes:
> They have some sort of a probe that apparently can exist for 85 million years so they know it's an alternate timeline (hawking imaginary time). But it's completely irrelevant because they can simply communicate back to the future timeline. > How can anything survive for 85 million years??? > Sending a probe back in time could easily wipe out civilization if it had bacteria on it, lol > How can you communicate with the future through a one way wormhole? (Stargate does this as well) > Iron ore is a valuable resource that people are fighting over. Why don't they just radio back to the future and have more sent over? They already have jeeps and guns from the future. > Two child policy seems pointless if you are trying to reduce a massively overcrowded population. |
I love the extent that you guys are going to pick this show apart.

The producers probably picked 85 million years ago with dinosaurs because it represents a time before civilization and a place to start from a new beginning. Of course the dinosaurs will add drama and visual effect like they did in the premiere. If they chose to leave them out I'm sure people would be wondering where the dinosaurs are :winkwink: So man will have 20 million years to prepare for an asteroid strike. We are currently working on technology to prevent something like that from happening again. They can bring the current technology with them to Terra Nova AND they have 20 million years to improve upon it. I don't see it as a threat. BTW what would be the timeline from Homo Erectus to the day they began to migrate through the worm hole? I'm guessing it's several million years less than the 20 million you think they would have from Terra Nova settlement to asteroid strike. As for the time travel vs clean air problem it hasn't been revealed yet as to what happened but a simple explanation would be either the problem is irreversible or the technology for time travel was discovered before a solution to revert the air quality. My guess is they just used up the earth and the only turning back was in time. |

I wasnt expecting much from it but I ended up really liking it. My DVR is set to record it every week now.
|
After episode #2, I'm still DVR-ing it, and I still enjoy it, but man, that episode plot was a total rip of Hitchcock's "The Birds."
|
Did the main female character (the Doctor) suddenly develop a Brit accent this week? I can't remember her having it in episode 1.
Anyway, I watched again tonight. Looks like it's going to bomb out. |

I suggest they put another time portal where the asteroid is going to hit, and just send the asteroid to its own time line. :winkwink: |

By the year 2000 we would have flying cars and disease and war would be eradicated and people would live to almost 200 years old and we would use steroids to keep us all young and healthy... Bottom line: I want my flying car! :1orglaugh |

All sci fi is easy to armchair and pick apart. It's fantasy. |

A little over a hundred years ago man only dreamed of flying. Now we have a new luxury airliner, put man on the moon, a probe on Mars, build and inhabit a space station, we are just a year or two from public space flight and yes we even have a flying car which someday will work into everyday life. Thats a huge progression over the last hundred years so the next hundred should be even greater. |
Turned it off after the first hour or so. I really expected more from this but it's a run of the mill production with a large budget. They could have done so much more.
