Of course I can afford to care for my pets but why pay $20 a week for rats when I can get kittens for free? The kittens wouldn't suffer either so don't worry about that.

They don't put them in a dumpster. They put them in a cooler until the rendering truck comes. Then they are turned into "rendered meat" and are put into pet food. How do I know? I used to work at a shelter gassing animals all day long.
