No shimmy

Not even close

That's just it. It's YOUR results. IMO it's riskier than it has to be, and you have less potential for top dollar. If you are trying to achieve the most money for the least time, there's a smarter, safer way.

Alot of rich people here

Its FAR better to have one big site ranked on places like google than to have lots of little sites ranked way down.

Id also take the $250 youve earned and re-invest ALL of it in buying fresh traffic. Keep doing that for 6 months or so before you take any money out yourself.

Most importantly stick at pushing the ONE site. Dont be tempted to start launching lots of little sites as they wont make a bean. You really can be earning tens of thousands per MONTH in this game. It can take years but you'll get there

Good luck

The problem with that advice is that you're completely at the mercy of Google. Get penalized and your income is wiped out overnight.

No not at all. Obviously google is an important traffic source and we'd love to have more of it but the majority of our overall traffic is from non-search engine sources

Its a lot easier to push traffic in and out of one big site than it is dozens of smaller ones. For example, I can push TAC onto page one of several major toplists (yeah I know they are old hat these days) and theres no way I could do that with dozens of smaller sites.

When we started, we got up to about a dozen different domains until we figured it out. Now we have 250 sites all on the one domain. Can you imagine the headache of trying to promote 250 seperate domains ?

Jel 11-05-2011 02:47 AM

If you're using TAC to send to those toplists you're a madman. If you're not, you're not :)

Some comes from links on TAC but a lot comes from 2 or 3 feeder sites we use

And it may take several months to recover. Diversification is the key to risk management.

JohnRingo 11-13-2011 12:30 PM

Yes. Diversification is the key. Although when just starting out it is best to have a heavy focus on one site.

stocktrader23 11-13-2011 04:24 PM

Re-entered the business on November 10th at around 10:00 PM

Revenue to date (Just shy of 72 hours) = $265.23.

Traffic is hilariously enough "outside of the box", self sustaining and free.

Also started another website that is un-monetized as of yet and did 40,000 uniques yesterday.

Eventally you will realise that theres only so many smaller sites that you can handle. About 7 years agoe I think we got to 15 - 20 sites each with a few thousand hits a day and maybe $500 a month per site when we realised that to get any bigger we had to merge.

Now we push around 100,000 uniques a day through TAC and revenues (not sure I should say this) about $25 - 30k per month. Thers no way you could that with a bunch of small standalone sites

As I understand it, Google is only downranking what it considered are non / poor content sites (ie link farms etc) so providing your main site has some decent content then you should be fine. Infact, weve seen an increase in google traffic recently

My advice, is pick one domain and make it your main site. Perhaps with a few feeder sites to get it going

Hope this helps

$25,000 to $30,000 per month is nothing to be ashamed of, especially in the current climate. Congrats.

Edit: While you are here, are you in contact with all of the 'real amateurs' in your network? If so, I can send you a lot of traffic if you can accommodate me on a few things.

Thanks

No, probably shouldn't have said that, but yes, yes you can do that with a bunch of small standalone sites!

Nice work on having a successful site though.

NewNick 11-14-2011 09:43 AM

Cant afford stats ?

Jel 11-14-2011 09:45 AM

All of what kush said. Also don't forget that you merged all those standalone sites to create the one bigger site to give you your current status (or at least help towards it, anyway), so that method does also work :thumbsup

Awesome! How did you account for Thanksgiving in your metric?

JohnRingo 11-14-2011 11:23 PM

Well I am on track for a 75% increase. So based on what happened on Halloween I figure a 50% increase is likely.
