Hoping Daddy solves your problems is not what responsible adults do.

That is the problem, there is no PLAN. They can't even get a good voice out there on what they want, and when a list comes out, they add a ton of BS demands to please all protesters.

I guess "Hope and Pray" or Hope and change? LOL

How I see it, they believe that if they block enough stuff and business, that the Gov will give in to their demands, and just pass laws.

So kinda like a hostage situation I guess...

Oftentimes, the biggest problem people will ever come across is a sense of entitlement. It truly makes learning very difficult.

Hell yeah! That's what happens when a motivated smart person goes to work.

In this world there are winners and losers. Your aunt is a great example of a winner.

What about a person who wants to work hard, take home a decent check and raise a family? Thats shrinking in america and those are the people that buy porn. And they are going away.

I question how much they want it. And/or how smart they are. Not everybody is intelligent enough to keep up or move ahead.

Life is hard, I'm struggling, your struggling. Most of us are working twice as hard to make 1/2 as much. But we'll still pull through.

I can't be responsible for the people who might not be quite as anal when it comes to work ethic. Or who might not be quite as clever.
I hope that conditions in our world will be that they can have a chance to go as far as they can with whatever abilities they have. Just like I do. Just like you do.

People that "want a decent check" are worker bees. When the shit hits the fan they are the first to pay the price and get fired. My Grandpa always told me to NEVER work for anyone else and that if I wanted to make real money to do something I loved. He was 100% right.

cykoe6 11-06-2011 08:33 PM

None of these OWS mutts could even handle working at McDonalds.

I am saying kinda what you are. Most here have Jobs, the ones that don't do not want jobs, trust me I have talked to them every week.

The ones with jobs have to live and support families, but hate that they are making someone else rich, thus the money going into politics. It is kind of a catch 22, we all can't be rich, or own a business.

Again, I am not saying it is right, just what the message they are telling me.

The main point they have is get money out of politics...

Don't get me wrong, I feel for the college grads. My cousin and his girlfriend are in the same boat. They borrowed money to go to school, slummed it as college students, barely getting by, only to be confronted with that fact that no one is able to give them a job because they are over qualified.

Life sucks, get a helmet. Get over it. Been there done that - I graduated college in California with my little computer degree right after the dot com bubble burst. IT jobs disappeared over night. In fact, that's how I ended up working in this industry.

while its funny and easy to say "get a job at McDnalds" fact is, most are turned away.

McDonalds just did a huge "hiring" promo, they got over 1million applications...

over 938,000 were turned away. in fact, it made news because they "turn away more applicants than harvard" now.

"Harvard accepts about 7 percent of applicants. At a recent "National Hiring Day" McDonalds accepted only 6.2 percent, according to CBS2Chicago."

threads like this are entertaining but it does show how out of touch some people are with the reality of employment in the US and/or actually doing things like getting a "job at Micky Ds"

This is not really surprising. This has been well documented that since 2008 or so it's an employer's market. There are more applicants than jobs, and they can frankly choose to be picky. They do not just need warm bodies to don the paper hat.

precisely, anyone who has paid attention and read articles about this stuff, know - its funny to see people still pushing the "get a job at McDonalds" angle because it shows complete ignorance for the economy they claim to know so much about/

Also if you have a shit load of education, they arent going to hire you. Because they figure you are just holding water til the next job or the manager feels threatened about hiring someone with a college education if he doesnt have one. If you been working in corp america and were laid off and your 50 . There is a good chance you will never get one again. Now all this let them all work for min wage. News flash its poverty wages, then they are using Gov benefits. So it costs us all. My grandfather was a presser of woman's coats in the garment district. He was able to buy a house, a car and raise 4 kids with my grand mother not working. Not everyone is an A type personally or smart enough but they are good people who will work very hard for their pay. And they are very fucked.

How are they "over qualified" if they have 0 experience?

why do college grads use this excuse for their own lack of real world skills?

they are under qualified.

Off course the average person isn't qualified to run a business that runs million of dollars in business a year... It's a lot of tasks... Payroll, Marketing, Accounting, Human Ressources, Real Estate etc.

Perhaps that's because that is in fact the precise reason that they (and others) are frequently given when their employment applications are turned down?

Ummm... maybe that would be because that's also what they've been told over and over and over again at job interviews.
