Allegations are made/Charges are filed.
A bunch of arguments are made, refuting the allegations/charges, claiming they are baseless and without merit.
THEN a judge/jury decides who is right and decides punishment.

No genius, I am talking about the facts in the document refuting claims made that Lindauer was insane at the time. There is no argument refuting the allegations, there are FACTS given by doctors observing Lindauer.
