Bryan G, There's health insurance, car insurance, fire insurance, etc. I view guns as protection insurance. It's there but hopefully will never be used. Again, I don't own one out of fear. I own one to be prepared. I also really enjoy target shooting them.

I grew up in a military family/household, my father was also a big hunter. Guns were always around and were never viewed as a big deal so naturally I don't see what the issue with owning one is.

I think a lot of the "difference" if that's the word to use, between pro/con ownership also has to do with comfort levels around firearms. I'm very comfortable so it's second nature having one around. Anyway, take care man.

FEAR??? Sorry but I don't own a gun because I am living in *fear*... I own a gun because I enjoy guns... I have an old school huge metal Bronco that weighs 6000+ lbs V8... I was raised with guns, all my friends were raised with guns and no one I know died from being shot accidently... we were all taught gun safty and taught how to be responsible with our guns, just as we were taught how to drive safely and be responsible with our cars and the same goes with handling Lars... AND there happens to be a bonus in owning a gun, just as Aaron pointed out, this country has had guns for 200+ years, they are not going away, and removing them from good people, myself or Aaron or his wife or any other responsible gun owner, is not going to solve any problems because, as Aaron pointed out already, the Fucktards in the world do not obtain guns legally, and you can bet your ass that they will still get a gun no matter what gun control laws try to restrict MY gun ownership... Laws only affect law abiders... It is what it is... So based on that there is a side bonus in owning a gun...

I know there is evil in the world and I believe in being prepared and safe... I see and hear about Fucktards raping and killing people in their homes all the time (yes it happens in Canada too) and *IF* one of them happened to stop by my home, I have the means to stop them...

The family in Cheshire, Connecticut may have had a WAY better chance of still being alive today if the wife (or daughters) had had access to a gun... Once these fucktards beat the husband with his own bat and dragged him into his own home to do as they please with his family, the wife could have had the chance to run to a gun, or if not her one of the daughters, (When I was their age my father had already taught me gun safty and taught me how to shoot a gun, 357 magnum revoler was the first gun I shot) but if the family had a gun one of them could have grabbed it and started shooting... ^^Giving a little girl a .357 magnum revolver as her first handgun to shoot is pretty irresponsible, IMO. It doesn't bother people that someone of your experience and ability owns and decide to protect yourself with guns. You seem balanced enough and comfortable enough with them that there wouldn't be a case of innocent bystanders at risk.

It's the people who don't have a fucking clue about them other than guns are cool and will protect me that spikes the fear in the rest of the planet, because people like that are dangerous. These aren't people who can protect themselves if someone breaks in, these are the same people who end up killing their own family members or the neighbours because of the fact they don't know what they are doing. Going to the range 2 or 3 times isn't going to fix that. If you look close you will even find a few of these types blathering away in this thread even, it is usually pretty obvious.
