It isn't a big deal, but if she is not a porn star anymore and wants to spend time with children now, why is she still using her PORN name? And why through all this is she referred to as her porn name?
did they introduce her to those kids, with her PORN name??? lol |

Even before getting to the article. good piece overall, i hope you guys do more. . |
Also, it seems now owners of programs are contacting the school wanting their porn girls to come read to kids now.
"So impressed was he with her civic-minded move, and no doubt seeing the upside for adult, Vivid co-founder Steven Hirsch fired off a letter to the school's principal, Ms. Sydney Ritchey-Burnett lauding her for having the courage to invite Grey, along with volunteering Vivid stars Chyna and Allie Haze to do the same." So it quickly jumps from the "I used to do porn (she was making porn less than 6 months ago?) and goes to current porn stars reading to kids. Just what we need! Anyone can see the problems with this, but I guess once you been in this biz so long most get decensitized to common sense. For the record, if a teen sex content producer tried reading to kids it would blow up too.... these people put their own exposure before educating kids. |
I have kids in school, I see how broke schools are and this happened in Compton. I have a feeling they might have some issues getting volunteers. So with that, read way to the little ones. However using her porn name was retarded.

If she didn't use her porn name, and was kept low profile to actually do something good for children this wouldn't be an issue. But it is some press releases featuring a porn star with her porn name reading to kids. It is not okay. And yeah, the parents of those kids in COMPTON probably don't give a shit. Let's see how many porn stars use their porn names and go read to kids in an upper class hood. :helpme |

I would rather have porn stars read to kids and watch my kids. You dont hear about porn stars molesting children. You hear about teachers, priests, coaches doing it all the time.

Sasha Grey (born Marina Ann Hantzis)
Why still use Sasha Grey with the kids? She should be her true self with such young kids and drop the porn star name. IMHO this was just a "Let's boost the media attention" move. Couldn't care less that a girl who loves to get fucked in the ass reads to kids. They are allowed to like kids like the rest of us. But do it for the right reasons and not for a selfish one. |
I used to write for one of the most popular satire sites on the internet. Nothing on the site was true yet there were constant emails from mental midgets who found the articles via forum posts from other outraged idiots. It was sad and hilarious all at the same time.
Back then I made the suggestion that we should be posting all of the hate mail on the site so those that "got it" could laugh at the idiots too. To the best of my knowledge they've never posted the reader hate mail. Now, with Facebook the stupid messages from people who don't understand satire is made public for everyone to enjoy. http://literallyunbelievable.org/ |

My point Tony is why Use your "stage name" when you have a real name you could share with the kids? |
Kid: Hey mom and dad, Sasha Grey just read to us today.
Mom: What! I'm calling the school district right now! Dad: Pics or it didn't happen. . |

Yep. When it was brought up by the first parent, I would have asked. " How do you know she was a PornStar?" "Surf Porn Much?" |

Sasha has done some mainstream crossover, perhaps she feels her name is not just a porn name.
In any case I think it is fine she volunteers to read for kids but it would have been proper to use her regular legal name and not her "celebrity status" as a pornstar. I remember a few years ago I think it was Jenna Jameson was un-invited to the annual Marine Corp Ball at Camp Pendleton. Just shows you the disapproval rating of real live porn people.. |
Theo, you are correct that article caused a stir - it was all over twitter. I imagine most people just skimmed it, saw that it was a "standard" opinion, and then went on without really getting into it.
Satire is harder when you are a venue not known for satire, when you are effectively the voice of an industry, and when the base story is all over the mainstream press. Probably people expected a reasoned answer, not satire. |

I don't know if it would be classified as a satire, parody, spoof, or just pure crap, but I know that I had a great time writing about Saul Darkham, the King Of Porn. The problem was, and I don't want to mention any names or anything, but the problem was that I based the character on an apparently real person who really just says the same thing over and over again, which I felt kind of limited my options as to where I could go with the character. With that being said, i think it set me up well to introduce a new fictional character which I've been toying around with in my spare time and one who does not have that same problem. This new character, if described in a nutshell, would be best described as kind of like a combination of Patrick Bateman, Mike South, Edmund Dantes, and myself. He is Count Chatsworth. Look out for him in Spring 2012. Or after. :thumbsup |
I just read the write up right now and it isn't what I would consider a satire. When I think of satire I think of something funny or over-the-top, exposing the ridiculousness of a situation. This reads like a regular opinion from a concerned parent, nothing more. I guess I'm missing it.

Fuck it-
Ann Oui - ennui - en-nui - \ˌän-ˈwē\ - boredom <the kind of ennui that comes from having too much time on one's hands and too little will to find something productive to do> "When the antiproton was discovered … it sent a wave of ennui through the physics community. Not that its discovery was unimportant, but on the basis of Dirac's theory, everybody expected it." French, from Old French "enui" - annoyance . |

I like to think that I'm at least somewhat intelligent, but I'm afraid I can't speak intelligently about the thought process Sasha Grey goes through when deciding to do some charitable work. Neither can you. Maybe she did it for the publicity, maybe she didn't. It really doesn't matter. Many charitable deeds are done for self serving purposes. If anyone has a problem with people who donate time or money to charitable causes for self serving purposes, they should write their congressperson and ask them to initiate legislation to eliminate tax deductions for charitable donations. Sure, the net result might be that less money is donated to charity, but it's not about the charities themselves, it's about what's inside the head of the charitable worker. You should also put me on your shit list because I once helped build a house for about 18 hours on a weekend simply because I wanted to fuck the girl who asked me if I would do it with her. It doesn't get anymore self serving than that and despite the fact that my deciding to do it right at the last minute helped alleviate the fact that 3 people failed to show, I am just a selfish, selfish cunt. Never mind that a house was built or that people would soon live in that house. |
