Anybody got a list of the big domain forums?
I wonder if they have this story yet, might be useful for people considering buying .XXX domains...

Of course the value has now greatly diminished, but to domain buyers and the general public they are probably not aware just how big the impact of Manwin banning .XXX will be.

Or would it be better if, having been promised incredible value for their 10K domain name they suddenly find out that .XXX has been so severely marginalized it's virtually worthless...

I could see a buttload of lawsuits in that respect...

As of today, Manwin has banned all activities between its brands and internet sites registered with a .XXX TLD.

Apparently Manwin is confused about whether it wants to bring antitrust claims or commit antitrust violations.

We find it ironic that a company that's accusing us of anti-competitive tactics is taking such an anti-competitive action that could cause potential financial harm to the same webmasters they claim they're trying to help.

Really? There is a big difference here and I assume you know that.

Do you think they are doing it for the benefit of you or the adult industry?

Manwin made a huge investment in adult to reach thier number 1 player status and now a very serious threat has arrived that could destroy thier investment and reduce them to mere participants in the industry.

Anything they do is simply to protect themselves , although of course the side effect does benefit the whole industry.

.xxx blows ass. Why you would put your website on an extension that any government can block easily to eliminate adult is beyond me. Every time a new extension is released you hear of these immediate huge sales, are they legit sales or just an insider job for the sheep to jump on the bandwagon, set up a few big sales behind the scenes, public jumps on board, they get rich, extension then fails but they don't care cause money in the bank :2 cents: .com is king :thumbsup

cherrylula 12-02-2011 07:46 PM

That's great, but the banner on the page with that article has a banner to IFRIENDS, one of the first to launch a .XXX. So big FAIL right there. :1orglaugh

So they are not going to accept any traffic from .xxx? At all, correct? way to go

too much drama in the dot ex ex ex LOL

wow news keeps flowing in, but when are huge players going to comment, like google, yahoo, and bing not going to index the extension. Or other popular website banning links to xxx, facebook might decide if you post a link to xxx they ban your account...and so on.

I like the way you think...:)

I am sure there are many guerrilla methods to get this in front of yahoo, google, bing and facebook. Glad to see .xxx is getting what they deserve. To all the peeps who spent 6 figures in purchasing xxx domains, looks like joke is on you.:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Allow me to quarterback this little spat for the thinking impaired:

-ICM offers Manwin a sweet backroom bro deal, in exchange for their support during their application.

-Manwin supports ICM

-Manwin attempts to collect on what was promised.

-ICM sells them some primo names, but not all of what was promised and not at prices in the ballpark of what was promised. ICM is now "too big for their britches" and is holding out on Manwin, or trying to extort more money than what was agreed to.

-Manwin files suit, grandstands, and then settles things like a top notch bro behind closed doors.

-Industry imbeciles get out their pom-poms, thinking that the two biggest threats to their own financial livelyhood doing battle will somehow benefit them.

I think you just hit on a big point in all of this...

Manwin steps to the plate... we all don't...

Konda 12-02-2011 09:47 PM

Nice, programs owners should to the same. The big programs should put in their terms that they don't take traffic from .xxx domains

.xxx is a huge scam, it's payback time

I think my point was...Mansef/Manwin laid a huge fucking on everybody to begin with. We had no way to "step to the plate" because of the outdated DMCA laws.

Now they are huge. And most everybody else has watched their business destroyed. All the former "big players" were decimated by the kinds of things that Mansef/Manwin did with using all that pirated content.

You know it and I know it.

I hope that Manwin is successful in their fight against .XXX
.XXX is a huge mistake and will be the beginning of the end for the adult online business.

But make no mistake...a LOT of people who could have and would have "stepped up" in the past, no longer have the money to do so thanks in large part to what Pornhub helped do to this industry.

I hope that both Manwin and .XXX go down. And yeah...if Manwin really can do something to stop .XXX it would help me and my business. But I'm also one of the few left out here who hasn't lost their ass and/or NEED Manwin to survive.

Does .XXX mean anything to the dozens of companies who have already went out of business thanks to piracy. Nope.
Does it mean anything to the companies who were crippled and then bought out by Manwin? Nope.

So yeah...let them go at each other's throats.
In the end? I predict that this whole thing will be dropped and .XXX will GIVE Manwin all their domains in a nice backroom deal similar to what we've seen other companies do with their lawsuits AGAINST Manwin.

Now if Manwin were to actually play this to the bitter end and hurt .XXX? Then yes I would applaud that move. And I would still say that Manwin has already done a ton of damage to this industry while .xxx is theoretically in the future going to do damage.

They both suck.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit if the whole thing isn't a planned out publicity stunt by both parties. :(

I don't put anything past them.

porno jew 12-02-2011 10:30 PM

mansef did everything legal. not much anyone could have done to stop them. guess people could have refused to sell them links when they were buying every link in existence and traffic sellers could have refused selling them traffic. although they had some big tgps/mgps as well already and could have built up their own link network as well.

Robbie:

Just to clear up one major misconception. We did not buyout anyone that was "crippled"... not a single company we bought was in any way crippled and no longer performing. I would have never bought it in that case. We only buy highly profitable companies. I really hope you will show up to the keynote in vegas Robbie, it will be interesting to discuss a few of these things with you if you are willing...

Regarding backroom deals... I did discuss various ways we could work together, but they were by far more than just getting our domains. I asked ICM for things that would have affected their whole business model and would have benefited the industry in general. But I can not really talk about this much because of the lawsuit. It will, I am sure, be discussed there so look out for the court transcripts. (I might talk about it a bit in my keynote in Vegas too, gotta verify how much I can before I do though)

In my opinion .XXX is unfair for us and any other company doing business online. I think it should not have been approved and I think it's even worse than all the new gTLDs that will be coming up next year. ANA and a lot of major brands seem to agree with us.

The decision to stop working with .XXX TLDs simply is a way to underline our opinion. Whoever wants to continue working with us, can always do so by using another domain as long as the site itself does not promote .XXX on it. So if iFriends wants to advertise on the tubes, they can do so using iFriends.com as long as that site does not mention iFriends.xxx anywhere.

We will not help people brand their .XXX domains to our 60 million visitors a day though and will not take traffic or ads from such domains either.

epitome 12-03-2011 12:45 AM

60 million visitors a day... The reason people hate manwin is because they aren't manwin.

Anybody saying otherwise is lying.

When are you going to offer your affiliates hosted FLVs for every single scene at every program you own?

You know, that would make you even more money...

Robbie 12-03-2011 12:55 AM

Fabian, I don't need to sit at your keynote speech. I would definitely sit down over a beer though and hear what you have to say.

I hope your keynote address goes well. I have zero idea how you would have much to say that could actually be of any use. But then again...few of the people who have ever spoke at these things have said anything that made any money for anyone.

As far as you saying that the companies you bought were not crippled...well, all I have to say is: I'm not crippled. And because our site makes me great money consistenly I would not sell it to you for any amount of money.

The only people who sell are people who want out (for whatever reason). If their business is doing well (and we all know that piracy has fucked this industry) then they have no desire to sell because they will make more money over time than they would make selling.

You can tell me I'm wrong...but you won't convince me of anything. I know better. As does any businessman out there.
Of course you could over-pay a really healthy company and buy them for many times their worth, but we both know that you have not done that. You're not stupid.

Anyway, I hope you actually do stick to your guns and go head to head with .XXX and spend some of that money on some attorneys. And I do want you to win against them.

And when you get into my town in Jan. I'd love to say hello and chat for a minute. You'll just have to forgive me if I don't attend your big keynote address as I consider it to be the ultimate hypocrisy of our industry to have you being in an honored position of any sort.

Nathan 12-03-2011 01:17 AM

Robbie, a beer it is then... I am not offended by you not attending the keynote. I think you have a COMPLETELY wrong view of myself though...

Regarding your comments re crippled or not and buying companies... People sell for many reasons, not only because their business is going down. As I said, we bought nobody that was declining. Twistys for example also was growing and doing very well... Anyway, this is off-topic.. we'll see if we can sit down for a beer in Vegas in Jan... would be fun I am sure...
