    Money other than porn....

    Okay, so it's pretty safe to say that some people here make 4,5 even 6 figs a month selling porn either as program owners, traffic brokers or affiliates. But what about the non-porn stuff? Anyone doing anything other than porn and happy doing so with a lucrative niche? No I'm not asking for your exact methods to madness.

    Just asking how many guys are doing well in both porn and mainstream. I for one have tried doing some golf stuff along with some basic amazon review stuff and had a bit of success. Nothing worth talking about really given the time put in but figured I'd ask. I was looking into weed products like bowls etc too but never did anything with it. Funny that I don't...

      I did good selling webmaster related scripts and services but so many webmasters disappeared in 2008 that the market dried up. I have several mainstream stores that took me about 2 hours to get online that produce a small income here and there. My main mainstream business uses a web presence but most work is done offline / over the phone so doesn't really qualify. That one is open enough to push 1 million + next year if I decide to go with it.

                                  The "magic" for me in internet marketing is the possibility of NOT having to keep standard business hours and NOT having to deal with customers, deadlines or tangible goods. I like to keep it strictly digital.

                                  My main source of income is via display advertising. Using cpm networks or direct ad sales to media buyers.

                                  If you have "share-worthy" content and know how to plant some seeds using social media, the people drive the traffic for you. This is what irks me with certain types of webmasters who try to force boring stuff on to social media.
                                  Good stuff gets shared naturally.

                                  Smaller sites can do well with networks such as vidasco media, fidelity media or gumgum, there are of course many more networks that will do the job.

                                  Once a site reaches 300k impressions or more monthly, blogads.com or isocket.com is a nice option for quality sites that will attract direct buys.

                                          people thinking they are going to enter the first page for any adult keyword without a massive seo campaign irk me as well.

                                              Right now I'm doing freelance work at my old company. I have to negotiate the advertising contracts for 18 newspapers and anticipate that I'll be finished by mid-late January. Other than that, I just write covered calls against my stocks on the first monday after the the third friday of every month.

                                                      I would niche it down more. I sell a product in the health and fitness spectrum, and have only been doing it for about a year now, although sales are low the profit has been very good and it is ramping up over time.

                                                      I avoid just about anything "cookie-cutter" nowadays. Even for my adult promotions. I like to create my own twist to a product and then market it that way. Seems to work pretty decent.

                                                          Guy, you know what you are doing. I'm talking about every stupid ass webmaster with a stupid ass blog. They waste time researching keywords that aren't hard to get, throw sitemaps on WordPress even though every fucking page is interlinked to hell and back, trade links like rabid monkeys and a lot even make their categories ridiculous phrases that show some searches in Google's keyword tools. If you're going after "pussy" or "free webcams" of course you have a truckload of work to do. If you're going after the easier obtainable stuff all over the above is a waste of fucking time when compared to making your site legit to start with.

                                                              A friend introduced me to mainstream like 1 year ago and I can say that I have never know a business so lucrative and professional like mainstream.

                                                              You cant really compare it to adult at all... It's completely different in all ways. Also right now if you have the knowledge or a mentor in mainstream, it's a lot easier to make money there than in adult. In adult you can send 50K uniques to cam sponsors and make ZERO SALES... In mainstream you get pre-paid to send that traffic, and you don't get shitty cents like in these ads sponsors of adult.. I feel more respected in mainstream than in adult. Never felt like I was working like a slave for free for a shitty sponsor that shaves the hell out of my account like I FELT with some cam sponsors here or even some paysites...

                                                              The problem with most adult webmasters is that they can never make it to mainstream, because they are so close-minded and structured with their adult tasks that they can't think out of the box. I talk by own experience and because I see adult webmasters failing in mainstream every day.

                                                              My advice is to look for a mentor or a friend of yours that can show a few things and then you will make GOLD there. 5-10 hours of work every day in mainstream equals good and decent money.

                                                              In adult you can work 10 hours PER DAY for a week and make ZERO BUCKS. And don't tell me that it's because you are doing something wrong. If you send 50K to a sponsor and they give 10 bucks for that, they are fucking with you.

                                                                  How are you defining "mainstream"? Obviously, someone can work for themselves in any business and make zero bucks, so wondering what you mean.

                                                                                  First of all, I mentioned that it has an online presence but is a hybrid and most income comes from marketing done outside of the internet. Direct sales.

                                                                                  Second, I never said I wasn't doing it. I said I was too tied up right now to do a hard push on it. It is my bread and butter, I went big with it a few months ago and nearing 6 figures in sales already. Unfortunately this industry shuts down to some extent in the winter and almost every customer and potential customer are out of the pool until at least after the holidays. I now have the resources and connections to grow as fast as I want for the industry I deal with as a main source of income and working on being able to do that for multiple industries but only when they are actually working.

                                                                                  Third, I am too overextended to push it hard. I have an offline business in town, several mainstream businesses, some adult stuff going on and now this. I have obligations in some areas that I have to deal with personally and others suffer without my attention. I'm not going to put friends, family and employees out of work because I can make more elsewhere. Some of the stuff I do is not something that I can easily teach someone else to do. I can't make you or anyone see the big picture if you don't have the same information stored in your brain as I do. 15 years of experience and a knack for selling shit makes it possible.

                                                                                      I just started a local logo/website design firm with a friend of mine and in less than a week we have 16 new jobs from word of mouth to business owners on Campus worth around 8k, some big companies too and I'm not even done with our website yet, either., so I might be doing this for a while before doing much more with porn... That's what future posts and RSS are for. ;)
