Personally, I would say that unless you know what it is like to hurt or kill people who are trying to hurt or kill you, who have hurt or killed people you care about etc.. then you can't really have an opinion on the matter. Civility and humanity quickly fall by the wayside and ANY person is capable of unspeakable atrocities in the presence of the right circumstances.

I've recently started dating a girl. This is basically what i told her in a very related conversation about my past..

You guys are talking about someone pissing on the dead body of an enemy soldier. When you've had someone try to kill you and succeed in killing many of your friends, i'd say that pissing on the dead body of that person is far kinder than anything which should be expected.
