Some might roll their eyes at such a description, but Thylmann made a strong enough case over a 10-month period in 2010 and 2011 to convince a Wall Street fund (which he declines to name) to agree to a nine-figure loan in April 2011. The money was used to pay down previous acquisition debts and fund new takeovers, such as Digital Playground.

It's a strategy that has earned Manwin respect among its peers.

"There's no question those Manwin guys are smart and they know what they're doing," says Steven Hirsch, founder of Vivid Entertainment.

Interesting reading, they certainly have a strategy :thumbsup

However as a tech company I never saw them bringing something innovating to the table.

I'm very curious what they will introduce as new innovating tech in the upcoming year to monetize all those brands and content.

Also cool to see that there are investment funds willing to invest in adult entertainment.

A room full of web and tech guys, and no one is able to get a video online within a day.

You can bet if someone was shitting in the pool, it would have been online in 10 minutes.

the Shemp 01-19-2012 05:52 AM

they said the new messiah would arrive ...

SZNY 01-19-2012 06:11 AM

Well I'm not talking about piracy but more about his vision to bring his brands to the consumer (web and TV).

Piracy is like the war against drugs something that can't be won without any good rules and policies on a worldwide level.

The future of our industry is not primarily fighting the war against piracy but adjusting your business model, making new apps, new ways to attract your consumers to buy your products or services through a more attractive model.

At the moment all we see is picking up failing or plateauing companies and copying everyone else. Would be great to see if someone big can bring something new to porn.

9 figures investment in the adult business?????????????????????

Sorry if I sound the doubting Thomas here, but if it was money you were in control of would you invest $100,000,000 in adult entertainment today? Maybe to buy more of these.

They have a long term vision and started acquiring companies in a certain order at the right time. Now they own most of the chains (traffic, big brands, broadcasting rights, cams, dating, amateur communities, etc).

So with an available investment fund of 9 figures they did a hell of a job. Now with some innovating tech strategy, the right brains aboard, connecting the dots they can make new things that attracts the modern consumer.

Investors don't push a 9 figure fund into something without a strategy, so consider them all sitting on golden toilets in the near future :upsidedow

Nice with these type of numbers, acquired assets and the right crew you can do a lot of magic in future dev activities

Ayla_SquareTurtle 01-19-2012 03:11 PM

So did they go to parties and threaten people's lives before or after the keynote speech?

Also, how is anyone confused by the industry rolling over for these people when it's just repeating the same pattern it always has? This was 100% predictable.

Of course he will have a stance such as that. He couldn't very well stand up and state the obvious and still have people walk away thinking he is a good guy. Pirates always have an excuse or a reason that they try to make sound logical. And while they do comply with every DMCA sent, that doesn't make it OK. Some smaller tubes are giving content owners admin tools to delete their content as they find it. Manwin doesn't.

Comparing his tubes full of content that shouldn't be there, with other tubes that have content that shouldn't be there, is not a valid argument. Both are in the wrong. And just because content has not been sent a DMCA doesn't mean it's allowed to be there. It means that the owners have not seen it yet or don't police their content.

Anyway, I don't want to get into this debate again, just wanted to reply to your post. Looking forward to seeing the video.

This sounds like a lot of bullshit coming from someone who defended a bunch of scammers here with his life. Even when people left and right got their cards banged. Idiot.

GARY LEE 01-19-2012 08:10 PM

Nathan you did a good job on your speech. You came across as a very down to earth guy and not a head in the clouds I'm to good for you bigtime corporate owner. You answered a lot of questions but still left some mystery cause you didn't cover them all (on purpose I'm sure). I hope AVN is a good show for you guys. I know your a Fabian but you'll always be a Nathan around here. Don't lose track of your roots and beginnings.

I was amazed but the amount of attendees that were there to see Fabian speak.
He did a great job, was extremely down to earth as he always seems to be, very intelligent and had alot to say.

I have the pleasure of working with several Manwin owned companies and many of their employees on almost a daily basis and I can tell you that they have a clear strategy and extremely bright employees. Manwin buys successful brands and improves what they all do best.

Kudos to Manwin and all who work with and for them!

Fabian himself commented that .xxx was videotaping his speech. I wonder what that was all about. He even joked about being handed papers and welcomed all who wanted to give him some court papers to come on up...no one went. lol.

To get a 9 figure some from investors and being in the field they are in, it would obviously take a very detailed plan and projection. More paysite acquisition, more offline porn company acquisitions. Yes it sounds good. We shall wait and see, I waited for the DP buy to be made public, will wait to see more.

Good for you. Who's next on your shopping list? Maybe online porn being owned by a few big boys working together, with the little micro Ma & Pa operations making a living is the best way forward. Concentrate on the fundamentals and not have to compete hammer and tong in a fragmented industry for affiliates and traffic. Seems ironic so many brown nosing you when you're in the business of dominating the industry. 9 figures gives you a good head start. :thumbsup

To get such a sum takes a well planned strategy. Not just going in and saying "If we had $200,000,000 we could buy lots of companies. You need to tell them who, when, how, price, return, etc.

I assume you've applied to a bank for a business loan. I have.

Pussy. Just put me on ignore. I made a valid comment. They are mostly picking up companies that have had their day or taking over the online operations. When they buy or take over one of the top players we will see the future. Still 9 figures invested in an online porn company in these days. You have to present pretty good plans, forecasts and spreadsheets to get that money from the financial sector. I see you're just the product manager, the CEO would know what is required to get this kind of backing from the financial sector.

I'm just throwing in the opposite view to the brown nosers. :thumbsup
