There are plenty of games that look awesome but most of them are forgotten within a short periode of time. World of Warcraft got my vote. I jumped on seven years ago and still like it. Tried LOTS of other game but they die quickly. World of Warcraft still lives on. That gotte count for something.

The problem with wow is it presents zero challenge and ive lvled healers, mages, I 80ed quite few all horde it gets very boring click click button mash rotation ... cataclysm sounded cool now u got kung fu pandas... The game is just a long grind no challenge at all... now old wow before expansions was bomb

Funny when you think of the outcry when that first came out, especially when you see what's in games now...

I still have that and my Sega CD system :)

bronco67 01-29-2012 07:53 PM

If we go by "game-changer", I'd say Half Life back in '99.

Personal favorite would be Uncharted 2.

metroid (NES) would be in my top 3 for sure.

Halflife/Counterstrike

I'd have to say the original Everquest is the best video game ever made. I remember the nights staying up late, realizing just how big that world was and feeling like i really accomplished something getting from area to area. Keep in mind, this was before games like WoW where every online game has a huge world now, plus being able to play with many others at the time felt awesome !

This man knows what he's talking about. Fuck Trammel, EQ, WOW and all of you carebears!

Ross 01-30-2012 07:44 AM

If I'm going by what I have played most over the years of gaming it has to be the FIFA series of games, I've never missed a game in all the years it has been out and I still play it to this day. In the last 10 years I'd say Call of Duty series tho, I love those games, from playing 1 2 3 on my shitty Playstation to 4 when PS3 first came out, I've never missed one. The last 2 have been nowhere near as good as Call of Duty 4 was tho but still enjoyable games.

Honorable mentions have to go to Football Manager (soccer management game) I buy every new release of this and spends hours upon hours playing it. Every 1 season of championship takes roughly 6-8 hours depending on how involved you are. I probably do 5-10 seasons per game. A lot of gaming hours :)

the fact you cant take your kills gear in wow is main reason i cant stand it!

pk for life.

(player killer) for those who dont know. and not those goofy shooting games, real pvp. where when i kill you, i stand over your corpse and take everything in your bag, game over, go start again. as you said, carebears, all of em.

Boozer 01-30-2012 08:15 AM

Duke Nukem

Definitely! My brother and I and friends would sit up all night and when I finally completed the game, the game kept going! lol. Pretty intense game and concept. I love side scrollers.

On the PC I'd say a game like commander keen, or others who preceeded it. Stuck in the 640k barrier you had to use assembly language and hook into the clock tick interrupt and such to get smooth graphic action in glorious 16 colors.

PR_Glen 01-30-2012 08:57 AM

mine are a lil subjective but I'm sure i'm not the only one picking some of these..

contra
zelda
tecmo bowl (all of them)
baseball stars
nhl 94 (one timers, dig it)
chronotrigger
star wars knights of the old republic (first one)

Boozer 01-30-2012 08:59 AM

forgot Tysons Punchout.. That game was great

slayer69 01-30-2012 09:00 AM

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Nintendo 64

I spent like 3 weeks straight in my room with nothing but water, weed and cold poptarts as a teen until I beat this.

PenisFace 01-30-2012 11:16 AM

Read Dead Redemption ranks pretty high up on my list.
