Such a hard thing to have to do, but kinder than leaving him to suffer longer :(

I'm sorry for your loss Scott, peace and best wishes to you

Theo 02-06-2012 11:50 AM

Scott, I'm sorry for your loss

michael.kickass 02-06-2012 12:15 PM

Sad to see you go pal.

CDSmith 02-06-2012 12:20 PM

It's been just over 4 years since my dog Sully passed away. I'll never forget that day I had to have him put to sleep. I still see him in my dreams quite regularly, and I'm sure that Skufty will show up in yours Scott.

I share your pain, and am sorry for your loss. It's kind of a unique thing when a guy loses his pooch who is also his best friend in the world. Some say "Just get another dog" but some dogs are more 'larger than life' than others and thus are a pretty hard act to follow.

Rest In Peace Skufty.

There is one that lives across the street. 200 lbs what a beautiful creature. My wife wants one, I said the boston who weight 20 lbs is a bed hog, I cant imagine a 200 lb dog.

Thank you everyone for the kind words. Esp JKF for the photos and AaronM for the phone call. Very appreciated.

Just got back from the vet. Skufty was very sick, but made his way in. He's never wanted to go into the vet office before, and I gave him every opportunity to go another way, he wanted to go in, first time ever. He knew what was going on and he knew it was his time, and he made it easier for me.

I was really sad when my vet office told me his favorite vet was on vacation all February when I booked the appointment and not back till March. I wanted Dr Lisa to do it, Skufty always had a crush on her ever since he got sick as a puppy and she brought him to her home for 2 nights. I know Skufty wanted Lisa to do it. Every time he'd go to the vet it was a HUGE fight to get him to go in, but once he saw Lisa he's change, whine, wag his tail and pretend to be tough and not afraid. Skufty seriously had a crush on Lisa, it was cute. We had no choice, Lisa was on Vacation and it was Skufty's time.

When we got inside the vet office, Lisa was there. I could tell she was holding back a lot of emotion. She gave us some story she got back early from her vacation, but I know she was just vacationing at home, she's got 3 kids and it's school season. When the office told her it was Skufty, she came in to do it herself. I could see in Skufty he was really happy about that.

Skufty didn't fight it at all. I held him in my arms as Lisa injected him, and his heart stopped in under 20 seconds. No whining, no whimpering. He was quite and knew what was about to happen. He could see Tricia and I were a wreck and was strong for us. He just passed away (and then made a big fart to remind us of one of his true abilities).

I left my baby there..... I get the ashes in a couple weeks.

My house and my life is empty now.

Elli 02-06-2012 01:27 PM

I'm so sorry to hear that, Scott. Skufty was an awesome dog. *hugs*

I'll never forget when he cornered you at my house here to tell you how it is and you didn't back down and gave him a lecture. He so wasn't expecting that, and respected you after you did it!

Scott McD 02-06-2012 01:50 PM

So sorry to hear about Skufty. :(

Losing a pet is never easy. They become such a huge part of our lives...

96ukssob 02-06-2012 01:56 PM

sorry Sleazy :( I'm sure he will be missed.

I have two puppies, only had them for a month but I couldn't imagine not having them in my life

He had personality and a lot to say, that's for sure! hahah great dog, though. You couldn't ask for a better four-legged friend.

Poppy 02-06-2012 01:59 PM

Hang in there Sleazy. Sucks losing pets.

Blake Rusko 02-06-2012 03:32 PM

Sorry to hear that Scott.

sicone 02-06-2012 04:06 PM

Sorry to hear Sleazy. You were both there for each other during the good, the bad and the ugly. Couldn't ask for a better friend then that.

RIP Skufty

Goodbye Skufty. almost 1000 page views in a day, not bad for a basset hound on a porn board

Imortyl Pussycat 02-06-2012 11:09 PM

i'm so sorry for your loss my love. Skuf is out of pain and happy now, you will see him again.

My Fucking Traffic 03-01-2013 03:43 PM

I know it's late, but R.I.P. Skufty...

How's things been, Scott? When I was looking up info on ya, I see you got a new dog, I know it sucks when you've had dog in your life as long as you had Skufty and then get another after losing it, isn't always the same.

Sucks losing pets bro. :(

tfs 03-01-2013 08:26 PM

Are you serious? I am SO sorry, Sleazy. I oved the pictures you shared of Skufty.

My old boy turns 13 this year and my pup turns three on March 2. I've always had dogs and I have always needed the younger on around when the older one passes.

I am so sorry about Skufty.

Man, I can't even imagine losing the pets I have now, Dog & 2 cats. They helped me get through a lot, good thing they're young so hopefully I have a lot of years before I gotta deal with this type of scenario.

Thank you

the new dog's very different. She's a black lab, named willow. She's VERY friendly, fast, and hugely intelligent. In a lot of ways it's good she's soo different than Skuf. She's more compassionate, and not as into food as Skuf was. She's not an alpha at all. She's very bright.

Skuf was strong, like a tank or a bulldozer. He was on steroids his whole life for a skin rash, and used to climb a lot of stairs. For a basset, that's like lifting weights. He was dominant, and totally an alpha. He got steriod rages too, like body builders on roids get.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Skufty might be waiting there for me, but sure as shit he ate his fill and then is guarding the food so no other dogs get any.

not from a shelter, but she did come from an native reserve about 100 miles from my house. Private deal, she had no shots and such. (but got them the next day)

my wife wanted a purebred dog from a puppy, she was almost 8 weeks old when we got her. Wife picked her out. We didn't care about breeding her, just wanted purebred is all.

I know muts are awesome too though.

Mine is a mutt, and she is great. But you can get purebreds from a shelter. Especially Labs. I say this more because there are a lot of shelter dogs that need homes, and most pure breed dogs will get purchased by someone. Mutt or not, shelters have way to many dogs. If I did not live in NYC in an apartment. I will have a lot more then 1 dog.

If my wife has her way we'll get more dogs. She wants a yellow lab as a friend for willow, and we'll go to the pound next time.

I want to wait till we move to the trailer park for a second dog.

they never met, but they were alive at the same time for a short period as Willow was born in Jan and Skuf passed away in Feb.

I honestly think they would have liked each other, Willow is very submissive and Skuf was very dominant, but oddly for some reason he always liked puppies that were submissive to him.

when Skuf was a puppy and tiny, my parents had 2 dogs. A shitzu and a cockapoo. The shitzu was an asshole, much like skuf, but he liked skufty. The cockapoo used to tease skuf, and beat him up. The Shitzu defended Skufty from the cockapoo many times when he was a pup, and Skufty NEVER forgot that, Skuf would beat up the cockapoo when he got older but he always respected the shitzu even when he got to be many times bigger. Weird how dogs seem to never forget stuff like that.

This is Ginger. A friend of mine found her on the side of the road when she was about 6 weeks old. He had her for about 4 months and could not keep her because he was in the process of renovating his new condo where pets were not aloud. I have had her since then. Going on 7 years now. So when it was time for him to move he had to get rid of her. Best thing I ever did was take her. Shes my sidekick.
