It's called a fucking doormat? I mean, I have an outdoor shoe scraper if you really have some snowy shit on your boots, a mat outside, and a mat inside. I don't need the bottoms of anyone's feet cleaner than that.

Exactly, everyone I know in the snow belt (espec during spring thaw) takes em off unless you like cleaning mud off the floor.

Sounds like a lil (more) anti American trolling going on here :)

Sure, 100% of one country does one thing and 100% of another country does another thing.

Sure, we never generalize :)

Must be a hell of a doormat or do you use if for hours? Snow melts and I like my floors clean...

beerptrol 02-10-2012 11:31 AM

I don't take mine off because it allows my girlfriend to get out of the kitchen more often so she can mop the muddy foot prints from the hallway/dining room area

Vjo 02-10-2012 11:34 AM

Unless you have a wife/gf/maid to clean the mud off the kitchen floor :1orglaugh j/k girls :)

You live alone, you get wise to that real quick.

pornguy 02-10-2012 11:45 AM

I take my shoes off at the door most of the time. Cant leave them out side as one of my dogs thinks they are quite tasty.

isn't it more relaxing to take your shoes off? so if someone's shoes has dog shit stuck in the ridges of their soles thats ok? and if you have young kids, they are all over the floors all the time.

I've noticed very few of Americans do this, however. Why is that?

the infrascruture here in the USA allows us to wear shoes inside our homes if we choose to do so.
Unlike alot of the underdevloped coutries in the world (you are located where?) here in the usa we have clean streets and roadways.A majority of our towns and citites have public works departments that maintain them.Motorized street cleaners and sweepers ,hired workers who pick up garabge or litter. Also amercians for the most part clean up after there pets..dog shit goes in little plastic bag wich are then dropped into trash containers specifially made for pet waste.

We can walk down the road and not step in pet (or human feces)..not worry about piles of trash and leaking garbage or raw seweage.

Even so..alot of amercians take there shoes off upon entering there house..although its is not a requirment in all homes ..it is in some..

I just got back from a local italian restaurant for lunch and walked in my house and left my shoes on without even lookig at the bottoms..why? ..because the place i dined at was very clean..the car i went in was clean and the walk between both wasnt riddled with dog shit and sweage like alot of other countries

bottom line...other than rain sleet snow or hail our street roads ,sidewalks and driveways are rather clean compared to..lets say..where you reside:2 cents:

SykkBoy 02-10-2012 11:56 AM

If I ever worse sandals, I'd have to punch myself in the face

I always remove my shoes though, due to always seeming to have light colored carpet...

haha I never understood why we had that here either. Most newer houses dont have it anymore though lol

Jim_Gunn 02-10-2012 12:00 PM

It also depends on the climate and season of where you live. In New York State in the winter with snow, slush, mud and road salt on the ground for several months of the year we were used to taking off our boots or shoes upon entering the house, at least in the winter, or we would make a mess on the carpeted floors that we used to often sit on to watch tv and play video games.

Now as an adult I live in South Florida and the ground is usually dry and clean year round and I have only tile floors with my own furniture laid out how I want so I never sit on the floor anymore. And it stays pretty clean other than needing a sweeping and washing once a week or so by my house cleaner.

It's impossible to keep a house clean if you insist on walking around with outdoor shoes.

Enjoy mopping the floors every day.

I dunno, snow is pretty easily removed from a shoe, even without bending over or taking it off... Got $30?

Certainly no young kids, and I mean, do you guys not notice when you step in dogshit or something?

Again, shoe scraper as linked above. Should even get the dirt out of the ridges of your shoe

fuck, shudder, young kids, shudder.

facialfreak 02-10-2012 12:29 PM

If you don't take your shoes off at the door, you do not enter my house ... PERIOD!

I DON'T LIVE IN A BARN!!!

you're some kind of dirt/germ - a - phobe... Seriously, everyday?

I have to clean fairly often, because I have dogs anyhow. Fur gets all over.

TarPy 02-10-2012 12:30 PM

and, yes, I wipe off the dog's feet when it comes in, because those dogs will step in anything, NOW DOGS should have inside paws... little fuckers...

one of mine likes to dig...

Choopa Phil 02-10-2012 12:32 PM

Was brought up taking my shoes off and always do as a courtesy to who ever is allowing me into their home. Nasty if you walk around in your sneakers...we didnt even do that in our college house.

DirtyDreamer 02-10-2012 12:35 PM

I just wear socks inside the house.

Major (Tom) 02-10-2012 01:25 PM

i always take my shoes off. Usually, company doesnt get it & just trucks on in & you don't want to be that guy who says "take your shoes off."

Not all Canadians! I have a no-shoes rule in my house and some friends call me the Shoe Nazi because they're used to wearing their shoes in their own houses. I've noticed most of the complainers are smokers, and they bitch about putting shoes on and off every time they step out for a smoke.

I think it is more to do with the outside environment than anything else ie ice / snow = people tend to take their shoes off inside.

Here in Australia it isvery rare to come across people who take their shoes off inside. Shoes are not dirty for the most part, if they are then shoes off.

Operator 02-10-2012 03:49 PM

I use my feet as hands :thumbsup

BAKO 02-10-2012 05:40 PM

Everyone takes there shoes off in Hawaii

Mutt 02-10-2012 05:52 PM

huh? it's not a Canadian thing to take off your shoes when entering your own home - some people do some don't. because of winter/spring weather obviously you're going to take off your shoes if they're wet or muddy.

I don't take my shoes off - i take them off for comfort when i know i'm not going to be leaving again.

Redrob 02-11-2012 12:15 AM

I lived in Japan and wife lived in China.

We have benches and storage in our entry.

No shoes in our home.

I know, right? I wonder if he has a closet full of different color cardigan sweaters he changes into when he walks in the door, too?

As long as my shoes aren't dirty, I don't bother taking them off.

brentbacardi 02-11-2012 01:00 AM

I don't walk around stepping in dog crap all day so I see no problem with wearing shoes in doors. Also, sorry foot fetishists, but I find feet completely repulsive in the fact that if bare feets were all over my floors I would find that pretty gross.

I do tend to take my shoes off in the bedroom because I end up on the floor sometimes in there hehe but other then that, I usually leave my shoes on.

2012 02-11-2012 01:45 AM

because we're proud barbarians and we don't care. it's a miracle we use utensils when we eat our dead cow/pig etc. Nobody gives a shit. So fuck you very much for your time you foreign bastard. :1orglaugh I wipe the dogshit on the couch arm. Can't wait for some of you fuckers to get here and start some shit. We live in fantasy land. You should know better than to fuck with crazy people. They teach you that in prison here.

wearing shoes all the time can also cause this. if people want to wear shoes in their own home, who cares but if you have smelly feet or athletes foot you might want to address the problem rather than just hide it. at some point you'll have to remove your shoes somewhere.
