Maybe to hit a club in SoBe for the night, but thats it.

I would live in the Boca Raton / Wellington / Jupiter 'ish area.

I have 6 houses up north past that area, in Vero Beach, and its also a nice area but things do close early and its suburban. You would need to drive back down to Palm Beach area for younger people, if thats your thing.

Not sure why you don't like Miami but I love it. Haven't been for about 4 years now to be fair so perhaps I'm a bit out of touch. I loved it when I was there and would happily (back then) live in Miami.

Yeah its really cool. You just call the number and it's a free taxi. Obviously should tip, but not required, even though everybody does as the drivers don't get paid. Electric 8 person golf carts and advertising on top pays for them and the electric to keep them charged.

There again... Guys get shot in London everyday.... but it's gang war fair, not tourists :(

As asked by Domain Diva, Is there good & bad areas of Florida?

If you asked me about London or even local in Bedford, Luton, Bournemouth & Southampton, I could say there are good & bad areas. Detroit, there are bad & bad areas, Beverly hills there are some good & some lovely areas. How about Florida?

North Miami (Aventura), North or South of Ft. Lauderdale.

Looking to buy a house in Northwest Miami but don't know which neighborhoods to avoid. Crime's everywhere and I understand all that. I don't really even mind that much, frankly. Just places where people get killed every night, home invasions, high gang activity, that sort of thing. Where are the places I should stay out of?

I've been there a few times with some friends that belong there. It's been a couple of years since I have been there, but when I was there, the place was nice as a mother fucker. High class nudist living lol :1orglaugh

If you aren't going to live near the beach, then you can pick anywhere else in Florida and it will be the same. As far as crime and the rest of the shit, don't watch Fox news. I haven't been shot at yet, nobody has invaded my home and the only gang around is a skateboard gang. Read Voltaire's Candide then decide. Plus anyone's opinion that does not live in South Florida isn't worth a fart in a hurricane. You want to buy? Rent first.

Florida is a swamp. They have flying cockroaches. It sucks.

don't think i can afford to live ON the beach....i'm looking at houses that are in the numbered streets , like above the 100s (yes, i know i sound like an idiot). why rent first? waste of money. housing market is great here and bad there. i want the house. oh, i'm from new orleans, so i know all about the hurricanes :)

No one seems to have mentioned the Florida Keys yet. I've enjoyed living down here since 1997 so if anyone's looking to relocate this far south you can hit me up for info and suggestions.

Note that the Keys are more diverse than some folks realize. There's the Upper Keys, Middle Keys, and Lower Keys (where you'll find Key West). The Uppers are closer to the mainland so they're a bit more like living in (or near) a city. The Lowers are mostly about being close to Key West and for those looking for more entertainment and dining choices. The Middle Keys are sort of like living out in the country, with either Key West or Miami just a short or long drive away.

And the drive is always pretty nice too. :)

Right now I live in the Tampa area and I can't stand it, if you are a good ole redneck and like a mix of older white people but still have some city life going then that may be for you.

I also have a house in Sebastian, east coast by Coco Beach, older retired people for the most part the whole coast up there closes at 9:00.

Orlando has a lot to offer but it's still to red neck for me and spread out.

Just my 2 cents but then again when I get North of Boca Raton and I start hearing banjo's playing...

PS been here since 1972.

I didn't know you are in Tampa, where are you?

Caliente is nice, and a lot better than other resorts. Why didn't you recommend Paradise Lakes or Lake Como? lol

I like Tampa a lot more as the weather is more mild, less humidity and more family oriented. You are Central to everything in the state, and we VERY RARELY get a direct hit hurricane;-)

There's nice houses, condos in the privately owned area. As for the clubhouse and club property the owner died and his kids have the place pretty fucked up.

Como ....... is well, Como. Bring your trailer:1orglaugh

On the beach is pretty expensive. But living near enough to walk to the beach is nice. I might rent first just to see how the neighborhood is before I commit to purchase. It's much easier to buy down here than it is to sell.

Can't argue with that. The Keys are special. No place like them that I've found.

I really don't know what it is, but every British person Ive ever seen or met in Florida is a total douchebag. Maybe over there they don't have to respect or "fear" the police but Ive seen them try to pull that attitude here and they are getting beatdown or arrested regularly.

It's the same thing when they are out in clubs getting drunk down here they think they are untouchable, they get loud and pushy. The two guys in the article probably talked shit to the wrong guy and boom.

Obviously not all Brits are like this but the overwhelming majority that I've seen are.

CyberHustler 02-11-2012 07:39 AM

I know people in Leigh High Acres, I have no clue as to why they have not put a bullet in their heads yet.

Lehigh acres is kinda nuts.
It is abut 40 minutes from cape coral and like 20 from downtown fort myers.

At one point it was undeveloped and growing, then real estate went to shit.
You find a lot of people in newer houses there on roads that were never paved. Like shit just stopped lol.

Lot of hispanics in Lehigh as they at one point pumped money into commercials in miami as cheap real estate. I assume more than a few people got less than what they expected. Lot of rednecks as well as its in bfe.
.................................................. .........

Cape coral/naples/sarasota are some of the nicer places living wise. Boring as shit though. Lot of people but the town seems small, kids hang out at walmart at night type of place. Hard to make friends if you arent in school or working for a big company full of social people lol. Most businesses here are smaller and most of you work for yourselves.

Fort Myers has good and bad parts to it.
The downtown area was really expensive when real estate was good. They built a shitload of highrise condos in ft myers that were selling for 400k - 1mil.
Look at them now lol.
http://oasiscondominiums.com/
http://fgcmls.rapmls.com/scripts/mgr...ID=162 656171
147k to start

My house is 1500 sq ft and built in 05. Originally sold for 230k I got it for 85k and we got it in 2010. You can get a newer, decent place for 80 - 100k in the Cape. As stated though, good for family or to settle down. Nice beaches around sanibel and marco island. Don't come here for nightlife though.

My family moved here when I was 13 so I am used to it now. Im like a fucking hermit though lol. Stay home most nights and focus on my work.

We should get together sometime for a drink. There are a lot of people in the area, but everyone keeps to themselves! lol

You ever go fishing? The Skyway Pier is a pretty good spot, and rather close to you!
