I've read and listened to everything Hoppe has produced. Most of his stuff is on Mises.org for anyone wanting to become educated. Hoppe even came and talked about Democracy: The God that Failed at Loyola when I was a student there. He's amazing.

Austrian School Economics is economics -- everything else is econostrology.

I should really have paid attention. haha

On that note, it's always humbling to visit these GFY threads. I continuously forget that I'm in the presence of such wealth, greatness and intelligence. If only the world knew that a great many of the "1%" posted on GFY, this place would be flooded, not with surfers looking for free porn, but with the poorest of the poor seeking to learn from you all.

ya, I misread the thread and posted what I did without realizing that my post was idiotic. haha

Some dumb chic spent 2 million on tickets yesterday. Keep in mind they are selling hope, without the lottery some people would never have any chance of feeling like they could be rich.

Hope is a valuable commodity.

Hope is a valuable commodity.

Food and shelter is also a valuable commodity. A person can buy hope with a one dollar purchase of a lottery ticket from time to time. Not 9% of their income.

porno jew 03-31-2012 07:54 PM

when you are poor your are desperate. this behavior is not hard to understand.

porno jew 03-31-2012 07:57 PM

why is it not surprising when you actually try and find the source for this claim there actually isn't one.

thought it sounded like bullshit.

Reminds me of the guys I knew in a bar bitching about welfare but smoking cigars & drinking large and bragging about they were getting the US Govt to pay for a condo conversion, in an area that the only people who would live there, couldn't afford to be in their places.

Different kinds of scamming but always scamming. Lotteries are built to generate addiction in some people. $50 weekly for lotteries couldn't seem so much but are over $2K in a year, with that money you can think to buy professional books or tutorials for your skills.

porno jew 04-01-2012 03:18 PM

no point even discussing this anyway. when you check out the source there isn't one. it was just made up. usual internet bullshit.

this isn't the study discussed in the article, but the results are very similar...

not only is the article complete shit but the guy who posted it is filthy rich and drives a lamborghini :Oh crap

i just cant imagine what sort of a cunt you would have to be to harass poor people when youre already filthy rich yourself

probably a big cunt :2 cents:

Pornopat 04-01-2012 11:34 PM

Its a well known fact that the lottery is more popular amongst the poor.
The poor often have only little hope. Saving 9% of their money will not suddenly make their problems go away. They often have to much debt and financial problems allready.
The people that do not understand this and comment in this thread saying stuff like that they should pay for more education or that these people are keeping themselves down are ignorant people.
These ignorant people are the ones that should pay a form of idiot tax instead of the poor....:2 cents:

:thumbsup

not probably but a certainty. His money must be his main source of self esteem. Shallow insecure shit.

brentbacardi 04-02-2012 05:02 AM

These people need to learn to speak, act and dress normally and make sure they have their HS Diploma and go to community college (Which they should be able to afford if they don't buy lotto tickets, if I remember correctly when I went it was like $100 a class).

Then they could get a decent job that pays at least $12-16 an hour full time pretty easily and if they are smart, maybe even more... and pay for a small apartment, car, going out once in awhile... AND HEALTH INSURANCE!

They could do it if they really wanted to!

Well you also don't need to be exactly a genius to find a $10-15 an hour job somewhere if you have a degree...

Even if they were dumb they should be able to manage this...

Fletch XXX 04-02-2012 06:05 AM

hmm well thats a good sign i dont know anyone who plays lottery or any of that stuff, my grandmother did but she passed after khurricane katrina.

PR_Glen 04-02-2012 06:14 AM

so buy some lottery tickets and you are ignorant, poor and unable to turn things around..

you spend the same % on going to the casino, overpaid drinks and over priced steaks and you are an authority on fixing economic balance between classes? I don't think so ;)

I don't advocate either personally but there is more to it than that...

CyberHustler 04-02-2012 06:17 AM

Poor people should spend more money on lottery tickets, they need/want to win more than rich people. 9% of a poor persons income is relative, might be 2 dollars.

MikeFlirt 04-02-2012 06:20 AM

I use to live in a poor neighborhood and every first of the month the spend a lot on lottery tickets, I felt so bad for them

It's not the managing part or the finding a job part they fail at. It's the getting a degree part or even coming anywhere close to the kind of reasoning you posted above.

travs 04-02-2012 08:25 AM

sad but true

True Good Point!

But about casinos, people who usually have it together, go with $x and think of it as a vacation expense, not an investment. :2 cents:

in the end people will argue about an article with no source for it's claims, or a study that is close, but whose claims are distorted, because in the end for some people they tried to find happiness through money and failed. now they spend their time on the internet bashing the poor.

Professor12 04-02-2012 09:28 AM

Everyone thinks differently. But mostly is it our educations system. How many classes did you take in high school to teach you about investing and controlling money. I cant remember any that taught me how to manage my money. And most parents never tell their kids how much money they how or how much they are in debt. If kids could see this they would learn a lot from it. They see how their parents work so hard but they have so much debt they will not want to be like that.

Then how would the banks make money? :)

The whole problem with the system nowadays is that people are insulated from the consequences of their actions.

Remove the social safety nets. Improve the gene pool.
There's too much population anyway.
