Lotteries = How gov scams the poor

Its not the poor that created the lottery, its not poor writing the stories and stirring the media hype, and its not the poor who sell them the tickets. People get desperate when they don't have and the lottery takes full advantage of that.

I would venture to guess that many of the people who are spending an average $53 per month on lottery tickets spend a lot more than that on cigarettes and beer and in some cases weed.

Everyone I have ever known who lived on the system smoked, drank at least a six pack a week, had cable with multiple channels and often smoked weed on a regular basis.

It isn't just bad money decisions holding these people back, but there is a certain segment of the population that just feels like they shouldn't have to work and that by raising their kid or just not going to jail they are contributing to society. Saving these people a few dollars per month won't help them, they need a 180 degree change in attitude first and that likely isn't going to happen.

you cant expect stupid poor people to make the best life and financial decisions. it just isnt logical.

you want the dumbest people who have the lowest paying jobs to perform as well as everyone else in society



the rich get richer. the poor get the picture. the bombs never hit you when you're down so low.

Sad truth in life, hard work and education will not always give you the "American Dream." For the middle class or the "lower class" the only hope is the lottery. The lower class never had anything. The middle class saw their pensions striped by a guy named Romney or thieves like him.
Gone are the days for working for a BIG company for benefits and a pension. NOT EVERYONE CAN BE CEO AT SOME FORTUNE 500 AND GET A GOLDEN PARACHUTE.
"Free" health in the US would lower the cost of US cars by thousands over Asian countries. It costs G.M. almost $3000 per car just on health care.

Some dumb chic spent 2 million on tickets yesterday. Keep in mind they are selling hope, without the lottery some people would never have any chance of feeling like they could be rich.

Hope is a valuable commodity.

Food and shelter is also a valuable commodity. A person can buy hope with a one dollar purchase of a lottery ticket from time to time. Not 9% of their income.

Different kinds of scamming but always scamming. Lotteries are built to generate addiction in some people. $50 weekly for lotteries couldn't seem so much but are over $2K in a year, with that money you can think to buy professional books or tutorials for your skills.

Its a well known fact that the lottery is more popular amongst the poor.
The poor often have only little hope. Saving 9% of their money will not suddenly make their problems go away. They often have to much debt and financial problems allready.
The people that do not understand this and comment in this thread saying stuff like that they should pay for more education or that these people are keeping themselves down are ignorant people.
These ignorant people are the ones that should pay a form of idiot tax instead of the poor....:2 cents:

These people need to learn to speak, act and dress normally and make sure they have their HS Diploma and go to community college (Which they should be able to afford if they don't buy lotto tickets, if I remember correctly when I went it was like $100 a class).

Then they could get a decent job that pays at least $12-16 an hour full time pretty easily and if they are smart, maybe even more... and pay for a small apartment, car, going out once in awhile... AND HEALTH INSURANCE!

It's not the managing part or the finding a job part they fail at. It's the getting a degree part or even coming anywhere close to the kind of reasoning you posted above.

in the end people will argue about an article with no source for it's claims, or a study that is close, but whose claims are distorted, because in the end for some people they tried to find happiness through money and failed. now they spend their time on the internet bashing the poor.

Everyone thinks differently. But mostly is it our educations system. How many classes did you take in high school to teach you about investing and controlling money. I cant remember any that taught me how to manage my money. And most parents never tell their kids how much money they how or how much they are in debt. If kids could see this they would learn a lot from it. They see how their parents work so hard but they have so much debt they will not want to be like that.

Then how would the banks make money? :)
