A Shitload of Old Hockey Pics
I'd post this in its own thread, but few people care, so...
I know pro photogs want to know the details, so I used a "U-Cam" to grab these. From my Esso NHL Power Player Album 1970/1971 and a few snaps from the free pics The Toronto Sun handed out the first year it existed. If I ran them through the scanner I'd be here all night... Maybe you recognize some of these dudes... (Oddly enough, I dig the book out of storage and its crusted with white powder that flakes off when I touch it... Got to thank my my ex-wife! So...) http://www.garcemac.com/gfyhockey/gfyhockey01.jpg http://www.garcemac.com/gfyhockey/gfyhockey02.jpg http://www.garcemac.com/gfyhockey/gfyhockey03.jpg http://www.garcemac.com/gfyhockey/gfyhockey04.jpg http://www.garcemac.com/gfyhockey/gfyhockey05.jpg http://www.garcemac.com/gfyhockey/gfyhockey06.jpg http://www.garcemac.com/gfyhockey/gfyhockey07.jpg http://www.garcemac.com/gfyhockey/gfyhockey08.jpg http://www.garcemac.com/gfyhockey/gfyhockey09.jpg |
Apparently I can't hotlink more than nine pictures off my server at one time, so I'll try to add the rest later.

If I could have figured out how to syphon gas out of his tank as a 7 year old I'd have done it. I would check the fuel gauge all the time hoping he was using lots of gas so we could get more Power Player sticker packs. |
3 game 7's in 2 nights - hockey fan heaven.
|
Power players! In my thread no less! Garce you tha man. I spent a ton of hours trading those with the other kids on my street growing up. My PP's little blue wallet was packed fat with spares, had the soft cover album filled and was working on a second collection. Sadly, over the years my collection seems to have disappeared though. It was stored in my parents basement, to this day I don't know what became of them all but I'd kill to find them.
Game 7's coming up starting tonight I think. Hockey heaven is right. Blackhawks -- They weren't dominated in that last game, they actually outplayed Phoenix for most of it in fact. It was one weird game, long stretches where the coyotes barely got to touch the puck, and only their goalie kept them alive. Chicago did all the dominating, all the play-making, had puck possession for most of the game, while Phoenix did simply one thing and one thing only.... scoring. Not sure which team I'll cheer for now. I like the look of Nashville, like the vibe going on there, not an obvious hockey market but the love for their team and love for the game itself has really taken off there it seems. I like that. I may have to back Ottawa though, assuming they win that game 7. I like the fact they've loosely recruited and at least temporarily called up Mark Stone for that one game, the kid from Winnipeg. He got an assist in that game and played quite strongly (as I knew he would, the kid is damn good). Now to find those damn power players.... :( |

:1orglaugh:1orglaugh oh please! Yes the first and part of the 2nd it was all blackhawks and yes shots on goal were very one sided BUT I would say a FOUR TO ZERO score would be dominated when the past 5 games went to OT.. |

GAMEPLAY -- so not dominated, in fact quite the opposite. Blackhawks dominated most of the game. It surprises me that anyone would even bother to disagree with me on this, even the commentators remarked that it seemed at times like the Coyotes weren't allowed to touch the puck. :1orglaugh Based on actual gameplay, puck possession and scoring chances the score should have been about 11 to 4 in favor of Chicago. They just didn't know how to solve Mike Smith. The guy was a machine in that game. "Oh please" indeed. :D |
fitty playoffs

If he can keep playing like that they just may have a chance of making it to round 3. If anyone still disagrees with me then I have to ask: what game were you watching? :1orglaugh |
damn - defending champions - OUT!
sucks, i'm old school, like Original 6 teams. Detroit, Chicago, Boston gone and Ottawa has a chance to put New York out tomorrow night. Vancouver gone. A bit of the changing of the guard in the NHL and a lot of salary cap creating parity. i want the Flyers or Rangers now, LA would be cool too. |
Boston fans booed them for not shooting more on a power play. They deserved to be served that sour bitter tasting treat called defeat.
I am pretty sure their loss was directed by the Secret Service as sanctioned by the President for Tim Thomas's slight on him. |
money, money, money ... biggest crap i have seen so far ... fuck off nhl, fuck off play off, fuck off every puppet in this fucking pseudo sport game. howgh, i am done with this bullshit
|
pitt out, boston out, everything in seventh game ... oh yeah, no it is not about money ... fucking assholes, anyone still believe it is more a sport than making money on tickets and in betting? fucking crap, bye shitheads, hope nobody will win this year
|
The Rangers are the next to be golfing
|
i am done with this, that was last game i watched. they may keep showing that theatre to their american sheeps, but i know some other kind of hockey. bye nhl mafia

You know I honestly wouldn't mind seeing Ottawa take it. I'm interested to see what they might have left in the tank for the next round. |
philly and st. louis looking pretty strong so far..
phoenix? yeah right.. goalies can get you far in the playoffs but you can't have 8 shots a game and expect your goalie to stop 40-50 a night.. you can get away with it for a series or two but not get to the finals.. goalies steal games, not cups. |

This would explain so much about his posts :) |

cross town/state series between Philly and Jersey should be good but the Flyers are superior talent wise - Bryzgalov can be shaky, Brodeur can be Brodeur, so it could go 6 or 7 - tho my guess is Flyers in 5.
Rangers versus Washington will be close, maybe Ovechkin will finally be the difference. the West - who cares, I barely follow the Western conference. The Predators are very solid and would be my bet to come out of the West. I'd love to see the Kings or Blues in the Cup final - two of the 1967 expansion franchises that have never won a Cup. |
And for the first time since 1996 there are no Canadian teams in the 2nd round of the playoffs.
Several teams I like though that are still alive. Round 2 should be great. Is Luongo going to end up playing for the Leafs? |

Wow LA Kings are rocking round 2 so far. They are decimating the Blues piece by piece.
If it comes to it, a Coyotes - Kings conf final will be a great series. |
Kings all the way!!!! Quick is too quick.
|
Guys, these may very well be the last NHL playoffs we see, if the mayan calendar/2012 thing turns out to be correct. :D

New Jersey takes a series lead with their OT goal last night. That's a great series so far. Round 2 is pretty good so far. |

if philly got a decent goalie, man they would be unstoppable. bryz lets in too many soft goals |
The first round is always the best round - u have multiple games every night, you've been anticipating the playoffs all winter and all the teams come out flying, forgetting that the playoffs are a marathon. Second round i always lose some interest, even when my team is in it, the play isn't as frantic, interest builds again in the third round because the Holy Grail is now within view.
Please don't let the New Jersey Devils win, they have always been bad for hockey, whether it was their clutch and grab neutral zone trap or their pathetic Stanley Cup parades held in the parking lot of their arena off the turnpike. I knew the Blues weren't ready for a Stanley Cup run. It would be great to see the Kings in the Stanley Cup final. |
