It's just a fact that dirty and filthy environments attract pests. Pest control is mainly about prevention.

Actually, bags of dog food, cat food and bird seed can attract them even more. Especially when like JFK, you live a bit out in the country and are surrounded by nature. Mice aren't stupid. If they know there is a ready made meal of some tasty kitty kibbles just inside that door, they will find a way in. Hell, I have a bird feeder that attaches to the outside of one of my windows with suction cups and was pretty amused to discover a field mouse had figured out how to climb a nearby bush, swing from a tiny branch, land on it and then squeeze through a small opening to actually get into the food chamber. Said mouse eventually found his way into the house through a small gap in my window screen and got into my pantry where he met his demise courtesy of a trap. I'm not as nice as JFK. No catch and release at this house :winkwink:
