It's not completely worthless.....
You buy cheap as heck FB traffic for foreign countries then send the traffic to Google paid search http://www.highrevenue.com/business-...itrage-is-dead

It's also helpful for FB apps.

yeah I did a couple hundred in FB ads also and it did alright, but the return wasn't what I expected.

My buddy is buying tomorrow but I'm not interested in FB stock.

I am surprised they did not promote "own a piece of Facebook" with ads on members pages.

CNBC needs to pick a side they flip flopped all day long saying it was the greatest IPO in history, then they say it will be a bust trading multiple times earnings.

I hope it does well and picks up the whole market with it, I'm looking to get out of a bunch of positions on a big up day.

What is clear from everyone I know who has advertised on Facebook is that it was a waste of money. Facebook promises big returns on ad spending, but delivers nothing.
Will be interesting to see if he is right.

Somehow I expected people here to be more on the ball about how it's overvalued and there seems to be a lot of hype, etcetera, but ... I guess its my fault my expectations were too high.

I'm sure that was just bad ad micro management..
Plus, how many people buy cars when surfing on Facebook anyways?..

There are companies in the tech bubble right now that are worth much more than 100 times current profits. Best example, is LinkedIn... LNKD's P/E is over _700_ ...

It's all future gambling. Or rather, these bubbles are not about multiple, they are about the fact that a ton of people want in. At $38 it's easy to buy a share, or two and be part of it. This is what will drive the price up. Then, when major chunks are sold, we'll see a drop, and after that it will rise again...

Well, I was going to respond earlier to Horny Dude and his proclamation that FB advertising was worthless, that it was probably pretty targeted, not worthless. I think your observation proved it. It is obvious that ads are served according to the conversation; and I saw no ads to buy, buy, buy. Either they know they are not going to need to advertise to sell it, or they know FB traffic is not worth trying to sell stock offerings to.
