Opposite for me - morning since I want to smell fresh for the day. If you do it before noght you wake up not that fresh.

Hard to believe I'm about to say "it depends" on this question haha. I took a shower 2 days ago, and then a few hours ago. So I skipped a day but I also didn't encounter another human in the meantime.

Once a day, or twice in two days.... That's the only place where I can touch myself with a honest excuse. I can't miss at least one moment of day to be happy.

not surprised your kid's friends are surprised he showers once a day - I fought with my mom constantly as a kid, hated baths or showers. kids don't stink like adults. i had a friend as a kid who showered ever day and we thought it was weird.
