In Season 3 episode 7 there is a flashback with Hector "Tio" Salamanca talking on the phone about Gustavo Fring. Tio says about Gus "Big Man. Big Generalissimo. Big fry cook is more like it... the Chicken Man."

I don't think he is gov't but Tofu will attest that I am certain that one white haired DEA agent is/was in his pocket.

its like one real long movie, thats pretty much what keeps you glued to it. Not cheesy cliff hangers or anything, just solid story telling not to mention premium acting. It's amazing how well those shows grab you with great characters all over the place.

That's what makes shows like The Wire & Breaking Bad practically flawless, incredible attention to detail and a script that is so well written that the story just flows naturally.

My hats off to Vince Gilligan, he has created something very special!

Totally agree, great story telling & great characters = 10/10

Also the cinematography is absolutely stunning!

I wanna see the episode of The X Files that Bryan Cranston was in, apparently his performance in that episode if the reason why he got the part for Walter White.

Oh is that the guy from season 2 that was showing Gus around the DEA office?

I think Gus was sponsoring the charity event?

Well spotted :thumbsup I wonder who his brother is :pimp

TeaForOne that's an excellent analysis you've made of the show, some very interesting points!

He was excellent in that episode. It is one of the few that has always stuck with me. When I saw he was in a drama, I did actually think back to it.

Yes, and he has been involved with Hank's attempt to investigate Gus roundtable too. In fact, he made a point of stating at one stage that he was a bit biased because Gus was a family friend and a long time supporter of the police.

A guy that has a hand in every aspect of the town, didn't forget about the police.

he's in a lot of stuff, was a recurring character on seinfeld even. You can even spot him in Saving Private Ryan in one big scene ;)

It's also nice to see him getting more roles in films.

I'd like to see Aaron Paul who plays Jesse getting more work, Bryan Cranston gets all the credit with Breaking Bad but I think Aaron Paul is a very underrated actor.

Just a few days until the new season premiere!

I just saw this on Quora:

I'm still fascinated by Gus Fring's background and motivation. Producer Vince Gilligan hinted in an interview on the AMC website years ago that Gus' Chilean heritage might suggest a Pinochet connection.

So he's alluded to Gus being someone powerful and connected in the Chilean government, which is the only thing that made sense to me.

Tonight's episode was great. Vince Gilligan said Walk is going to go to a dark place and you can already see it happening.

I also like Weeds, but even with a hot milf as the lead character it isn't half the show Breaking Bad is.
