Take it one step further...
Would you for a complete stranger?
I have been in three situations where the chance of being shot was imminent.
One in Canada at a party/shoot at WRP, where in a crammed entrance with dudes pushing and shoving and ramping up to a full on fight, a guy pulled a handgun and stuck it in my friends face, I pushed in to block, but then the guy pointed it at the ceiling and fired several rounds into it. From there it turned into a huge brawl that spilled outside. We really knew we were in Canada when guys ran to their cars and came back with sawed off hockey sticks. Ahh, the good ol' days of the biz!
The other was when I lived in Venice and a guy was blasted with a shotgun and killed by an estranged husband in broad daylight right behind where I lived at the time; I was in my yard and ran out to help, the only reason I can think of why I wasn't shot at was because he had already emptied the gun into the victim , but I did make the best witness and helped put the guy away. .
Another time, I was in a bar in downtown Seattle when a guy walked in and literally dragged a porn model we were talking to out of the bar. Turns out she was one of his whores and he didn't like her hanging out in a yuppie bar not getting paid for her time. I ran out to help her but the pimps friend got out of the car and told me to fuck off and showed me his gun. I backed off and did my best to talk her out of the car but they all just drove off. However, I was the only person willing to testify and actually show up in court and the pimp ended up getting 6 years.
Every time, afterwards, I thought to myself... DUMBASS! WTF are you doing?!
There aren't really thoughts though in moments like these, just reactions. Truth be told, no one knows what they will do unless they are highly trained or completely stupid, reacting in the moment with an absence of forethought, like me. :2 cents:
