baddog 08-15-2012 08:24 PM

People that do not understand contractions should probably avoid using them.

glowlite 08-15-2012 08:31 PM

You're correct ...

Glen, using the number 2 rather than the word two is not grammatically incorrect, rather it is informal.

hmmm, informal sounds like a cop out. Anything under 10 should be spelled out. :2 cents:

Whose and who's is kind of a bitch though.

I find little reason to use "who's" when I stop to think about it. But I see the error often.

Thank you so much. Now, if I can just remember that rule.

What about insure/ensure?

For some reason I remember this from a test in a writing class from Uni.

I still second guess myself every time I use it; unless I am talking about insurance.

That's fine. No problem.

I hope you don't mind when your job application and employment resume is included in the first wave to hit my trash can.

Carry on. :)

"Grammar Nazi" and "it's only a board."

I always get them confused with 'yore'.

For people learning english as a second language, I can understand how hard it must be. Especially there, their, and they're.

Hentaikid 08-16-2012 03:37 AM

I like Paul but it always does my head in when he uses "of" instead of "have" :)

Now in dutch.

KRosh 08-16-2012 07:23 AM

I want to make it clear, by no means am I the greatest writer nor do I have perfect grammar.

However, it takes less than a second to add an apostrophe to you're, but only if you know the difference between your and you're.

People say they don't care, is it really that they don't care? or is it that they don't know the difference?
