I truly hate that Robb, his wife and his mother had to go but I hope that Joffrey's ending is just as surprising and well given.

I started reading the first book about 2 weeks ago and am now on the second book. Excellent books, and now I'm going to have to buy the first two seasons on DVD when they come out!

I have a feeling they labored over the choice of when to show the wedding scene, and ultimately deciding to do it before the finale. Imagine the downer it would have been if the last thing viewers see is Caetlyn Stark getting her throat slit.

It was smarter to end the season on a semi-positive note instead.

That's true, and a lot of people used to a certain kind of TV show can't hack it. I like my entertainment dark as it can be, but I'm glad they dished out the harsh stuff before the last episode. The people who make this show know what they're doing. Although, as someone who hasn't read the books, it feels very compressed and like it needs to be double the amount of episodes. I know HBO has a certain budget and constraints, but it feels a little small scale. And it has nothing to do with the amount of battles.. my favorite thing is the character interaction, and thankfully there's a ton of that.
