I read that black and white people were tweeting those things.

Yeah we have a black president, America is not racist. Oh wait it's re-election time,
Who cares that he did a bad job, if he isn't voted back into office it is because America is racist.

By denying it's about race you just make yourself look all the more a chump and a fraud.

Nope....I haven't even looked at the tweets.

And calling me names doesn't change what I said in my post. YOU are talking about race. On the newscasts it's ALWAYS liberals talking about race.

It's simple race baiting. And shows a failure to discuss ideas.

And just because YOU declare something as fact...doesn't make it so. Matter of fact, makes it a lot less factual when a hopped up on Obama Kool-Aid guy like you says it.

StickyGreen 10-18-2012 02:38 PM

It's funny how people are actually saying these crazy things on twitter, but then on here people act like it's not really happening simply because the original source pointing it out happened to be "right wing" or whatever... you clowns turn EVERYTHING into a right vs left pissing contest...

It didn't happen because it didn't come from my own biased news source.

Stupid shit is said on Twitter all day every day.

Case in point: https://twitter.com/joansbiz

Or follow the #tcot tag.

I haven't started a thread about the rantings of stupid people on Twitter because it is the rantings of stupid people on Twitter. Meanwhile, right wing blogs and other properties are making a big deal about it.

You should be a politician or a preacher. All you are doing is trying to make up shit that you claim I said.

I hope we meet one day so I can look you in the eye and judge what kind of person you are to keep doing that.

Here's what I said (It's getting tiresome dealing with your shit): I said on this forum and on television news it's ALWAYS liberals who bring up the subject of race.

If you are too goddamned stupid to understand what I said and you translated it to the horseshit that you wrote..then I feel sorry for you.

I've already asked you nicely to stop attacking me personally and have a real discussion about the subject we are talking about. If you've got some good points just make them. Otherwise you're just trolling me. I'm getting tired of it.

I'd like to be able to have an intelligent discussion instead of you acting like a jackass. So please act like a grown up and let's have a conversation on here. :)

You're one of the most aggressive or prolific pro-Romney posters in these topics, defending almost everything he says. I'm just replying to them, and calling bullshit on some of them. It isn't that you're bullied, and unlike you I didn't threaten to beat you up. If it looks like I am, it's only because you've posted so much more than most others, that there's so much to reply to. :2 cents:

I can't take anything you say seriously again on political debate. You have no credibility if you believe that race baiting Ed Shultz (and note..he is a middle aged white liberal ALWAYS talking about race)

I don't watch schultz, I don't watch msnbc in general, altho I do like their website, it presents the news in a better format (more visually pleasing) than cnn. I didn't know he used the term, I've seen it in hundreds of places, it's entered the common vernacular.

https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&....1.DDzEyjY695M

I have no interest in having credibility with you. I think you are kind of silly, generally. You rely on weak emotional arguments, ad hominem like the one you just lamely tried on me, and you don't seem to read much or make much attempt to think deeply.

I just did a few searches on this topic - twitter riots - on google news - so far only a few right wing websites are talking about it.

We are webmasters, we all know that there are tools that let a person create fake twitter accounts, and generate fake twitter buzz, and a campaign like this, especially following the legal failure of republican efforts to make voting harder, is exactly the kind of thing one would expect to see from the dirty tricks crowd.

Might there be riots? sure.

But it is the rightwing that is waving the gun all the time, buying ammo, and making beligerent threats. It's the right the threatens violence all the time.

That "dogwhistle" bullshit is HIS saying. Either you got it directly from watching him, or you got it from one of his disciples.

And again...you are talking about something I am NOT.
I have already said in plain ENGLISH that I didn't read the tweets and don't care about them.

My comment was that when people bring up the subject of race on television news it's ALWAYS a middle aged white liberal casting accusations. Same here on GFY.
And you are a perfect example of it.

You keep bringing it up and trying to have a conversation with me about Twitter and "dogwhistle" racism that I'm not even having with you.

Your own words are proving my point. And if you think I'm "silly" that's your prerogative.

I'm not being "silly" in these discussions. I'm being sincere. I'm also drawing on my own life experience to inform my opinion as well as what I see on all the news channels (I DO watch Ed Shult's show....completely disagree with him, but I watch it to understand how someone as angry and bitter as he is comes to his conclusions)

From where I sit...you seem to be a guy who is walking around with blinders on thinking he is "enlightened" by your totally left wing thoughts.

For me you are only seeing half the picture. Fiscally you are lost in my opnion. I'm staunchly conservative in that respect.
Socially...I'm pretty sure that I'm far more liberal than you. I meet very few people in this world who are more socially liberal than I am.

But I don't blindly follow one "side" of the other. And I hate...HATE the lies and negative bullshit that Obama's campaign are putting out there.

He is doing the exact thing that he said himself should NOT be done.
In 2008 Obama said he would NOT ever do negative campaigning.

His EXACT quote:
"If you don't have any fresh ideas, then you use stale tactics to scare the voters," he proclaimed, "If you don't have a record to run on, then you paint your opponent as someone people should run from"

That is exactly what his campaign is doing to Romney.
And it infuriates me that I voted for Obama believing him. He's a liar and a failure. I can admit that now. You can't.

Vote for Gary Johnson. Obama is a failure. Romney will get the economy turned around but his stand on social issues is horrible. Johnson's positions are fiscally conservative and socially liberal. It's called Freedom.

davethedope 10-18-2012 04:17 PM

If you're voting for Gary Johnson you might as well not vote

I saw an article earlier that said in Nevada anyway, Gary Johnson is taking away more voters from Obama than Romney, which could make the race all that much closer in Romney's favor.

Maybe Nevada puts social issues as more priority than fiscal ones.

No, if YOU are voting for someone whom you don't agree with then YOU should not vote.

Voting isn't about a horse race or a sporting event. It's about electing a government that will serve YOU. Not the other way around.

It looks like our society has fallen so far that you actually and sincerely believe you should vote for the guy who is the least piece of shit instead of voting for what you believe in.

No sir, I think my vote is the one that is not wasted.

Absolutely untrue. If Gary Johnson can get 5% of the vote, then in 2016 we will FINALLY break the monopoly of the Dem/Rep two party bullcrap. It will mean that we will have a third party that will have access to equal TV time, to campaign funding, and the debates. If we can get a third party in, we can get a fourth, etc... A vote for Gary Johnson is a vote to break open the monopoly in place, and the rules will allow that to happen if he can get to 5% this time around. He is at that level in quite a few states right now.

I'm totally tired of the two parties switching posltions depending on who is in power. Notice how anti-war the Dems were with a Republican in office? Now they couldn't care less about babies being bombed by Drones. Republicans that didn't care about spending when Bush was in office are now freaked out about it under Obama.

The two party system has become meaningless. It has come down to team A vrs team B, and both will be for anything their team does, and anti anything the other one does, even if those things overlap or switch over.

That is exactly right. I was thinking about that earlier today.

Democrats were outraged at the casualties that happened to innocent civilians during the Bush years. The news would report it with looks of horror and words of condemnation.

Now? They report how "tough" Obama is and how he has killed MORE people than Bush with drones.

And the Republicans spent and spent and spent. Totally the opposite of fiscal conservatism.
And now that Obama is proving that he is just like Bush...they are having fits over the deficit (just like the Dems did when Bush was spending)

Whichever party is in power...they suddenly say the deficit doesn't really matter.
It's disgusting.

They're not pro-war, but they don't seem to say shit about the wars going on while their "party" is in power.

Obama got the Nobel Peace Prize while he was dropping bombs on innocent families in Pakistan from unmanned drones.

Ah. I agree that they aren't saying enough. I think we buy their explanations, or excuses, that they're definitely bringing troops home as soon as possible, and that we will be out of Afghanistan by 2014, so it doesn't provoke a constant backlash. Still, anytime I've ever heard it come up, and it does frequently, on shows like Jon Stewart or Bill Maher, etc.. it's always saying Obama hasn't done enough and that Obama is just as bad as Bush was by not getting us out of the conflicts.

StickyGreen 10-18-2012 05:00 PM

And I don't mean to imply that Obama MEANT to drop bombs on innocent families, but this was an unintended result of his warmongering campaigns in the middle east. No bueno.

Bill8 10-18-2012 05:12 PM

I'm guessing I first got the expression dogwhistle politics from Jon Stewart - but I have, as I said, seen the expression in hundreds of places.

As the google news search I posted shows, it's become a common expression, used everywhere in modern political commentary.

And it's an accurate expression. The racism in this story is crystal clear, and I don't believe you for a second when you say you didn't see it. This whole story is in fact a perfect example of dogwhistle politics - a message specifically targeted at racists, to drum up racial hatred.

I personally don't care if you hate the hahahahahahas. Lots of folks do.

But you are ignoring my real point, and blowing up a smoke cloud of it's-not-racist WAAAAAAAH to avoid it.

It has all the signs of being a manufacured story. The Examiner and the Times (and teh Caller) look to have manufactured another story a short time ago - the rape of the ambassador - and no legitimate source has yet supported that story. (altho they still might, we shall see.) We should be suspicious of websites that have produced unsupported stories with political agendas, and look for better sources to confirm or deny their stories.

No credible and legitimate news sources are yet talking about it - which is another sign that it's a manufactured story.

We as webmasters know it's possible to manipulate twitter buzz, if you have money to spend. If a story looks dubious, it's claims should be investigated.

It may turn out to be completely true - that there are real people tweeting riot threats, that its a real phenomenon - but if it looks like a fake story it may be a fake story.

Bill8 10-18-2012 05:19 PM

By the way, I am in fact voting Libertarian. I'm a liberal libertarian with a science bias. i reserve the right to throw away my vote as a protest.

I have already said many many times that I despise Obama as a wall street cocksucker and won't vote for that uncle tom. But, I'm not blind like most republicans, I also see that Romney is a wall street cocksucker, a millionaire sucking the cocks of billionaires.

I just don't buy the legitimacy of what looks to be a fake news story.

Vote for Gary Johnson and let's get people working for their dreams instead of "feeling" they don't have a "chance". Winners create their "chances". Worker bees wait for a paycheck.

Why or how should obama or any president change that? its in all politicians best interest to work for those who donate the most, not those who vote for them. it doesn't seem to matter much which party is in power, nothing really changes. big government is big business and like any good business, it needs to grow, not shrink. perhaps johnson would really change things, eventually but we'll never know as america is stuck in the two party farce.
