The only gun I've ever owned is a .22 rifle when I was a teenager. I don't have any guns, so I'm not a responsible or irresponsible gun owner. I just don't see an issue with responsible owner having them.

Obviously some guy that didn't confirm 100% what his target was before shooting it, is not a "responsible" gun owner and I don't care what the article says. I'm not a gun nut, but I have nothing against them as long as they are handled correctly.

One could kill someone just as easily with a car and we all know there are hundreds of thousands of irresponsible car owners. Yet people don't get all up in arms about taking away others cars because they are not responsible drivers.

People that collect guns and ammo for the a zombie apocalypse or because they think the world will end like 80% of the gun freaks on the internet are probably not responsible gun owners. These are the types that give "responsible" gun owners a bad name. I'd wager a guess and say at the very least 50% of gun owners are not responsible gun owners.

That is what the issue should be, not the guns but who is handling them.

In the meantime those 50% are owning and using guns. Again the ifs and whens. Stop saying that and look at the current situation and how fucked up it is.

Poor little girl! A supposed-fun party turned out to be a horrible one.

campimp 10-24-2012 07:54 AM

people will always love their guns no matter how many times innocent people like this girl get shot.

the whole "should we ban knives too" argument is perhaps the most stupid argument ever made....

i agree... if someone wants to kill someone they will find a way, there is no question about that... so in this scenario you are right, knives and guns are the same.

but how many accidental knife deaths have you heard about? would this guy really have run into his yard with a knife and stabbed a girl he believed was a fucking skunk? how many people would run into schools with a knife and kill a dozen kids before he was stopped? how many kids would find daddy's pocket knife and accidently stab themselves in the head... it just makes no sense

even the fact i agree with doesnt really make 100% sense. If i REALLY wanted to kill someone, i could do it with a knife or a gun, but how many of these nutjobs would go through with it if it invlolved using a knife instead of a gun.. not many. in my experience most gun owners own guns because they are afraid of fighting in any way other than by the use of a gun.

it blows my mind why people are so scared that they must own guns.... but then again i guess it scares me too that so many people own guns!

most people don't fire guns around their home. :2 cents: the guy in the article was most likely drinking.(edit the man was sober good lord!)

Most gun incidents probably involve drugs or alcohol. If you really want to address the issue, address the root cause, not the method.

Education and training is a huge factor and often over looked. You can buy a gun here in Arizona with absolutely no training which I don't agree with.

Guns are dangerous and should be handled with care. If a child gets injured with a gun then who's fault is that? We don't let kids play with fire for the same reason.

the problem is you cant keep tabs on everyone. ex. a guy loses his job a father loses custody a mother gets a divorce and loses custody. people are doing the shootings that have never been in trouble with the law.

Yes sounds very odd. So you got a mother telling her 24 year old son to shoot a "skunk" and neither one could tell exactly what they were really shooting at? I dunno

"ROCHESTER, Pa. -- A woman hosting a Halloween party shined a light for her son to help him shoot what they thought was a skunk but was really his 8-year-old cousin in a black-and-white costume, police said.

The girl, who was hit in the shoulder, arm, back and neck, was hospitalized Monday in critical condition" source

According to Dirty F, taking away his gun will address the root cause.
