Sadly, events like this seem to be good for business for the gun manufacturers, and for the NRA's fundraising efforts. :disgust RIP to the innocent victims, and condolences to their families... :( ADG |

Isn't the shooter dead? Don't think you can post on FB when your dead, unless there is a new app for it. Fucking stupid journalists.

Holy shit! This is insane!
Another psycho with gun... |

Sounds like someone with the same name, but a different person, was the shooter: Quote:

Its not a common name - He was the right age and right place. Could be as you say though. Its all just guesswork.... Edit: It is the same guy - His profile said that he now lived Hoboken and was from Newtown - He is 24 - I missed that part of your post before. Edit2: BBC saying "Connecticut gunman named by US media as Ryan Lanza, whose mother taught at school and was also killed" - Someone is going to be in trouble if this guy is really sitting on a bus somewhere. |

People are the root of the problem.
The process to undo the damage of the past two generations is basically impossible barring an earth-changing event but here's where they should start: - Stop giving kids drugs for made-up psychological disorders, depression, etc... - Stop pumping so many chemicals into the food chain. - Stop the need for everything to be so "PC". People get sued and arrested if they dare get angry at a neighbor verbally, wtf... - Limit the technology that is destroying true social interactions (such as the fact people cannot have a meal together without texting, checking emails, etc...) - Destroy the television monstrosity known as "Reality TV". - Provide/allow more outlets for aggression. For example, when I grew up and got in bar fights all the time, it was always drunken fist fights and the worst that would happen is you'd get tossed from the bar. Now you'd probably get guns, knives involved OR the police charging in with tasers. I'm not a gun fan (I prefer medieval weaponry myself as a hobby) but trying to enforce new restrictions on them won't help much if at all. For such public, mass events, the killer will simply turn to items like home-made bombs (easily obtainable supplies, can cause high death tolls in enclosed areas). Also, many cases the killer takes his own life - so most deterrents won't affect him (other than being able to prevent him from finishing the job, and then punishing him which to them would be worst than death). |
I'm sitting here all teared up after reading the below - I have a 12 year old and can't imagine what these poor people are going through. 20 innocent little kids gone with in minutes...
First grade teacher Kaitlin Roig, 29, locked her 14 students in a classroom bathroom and listened to "tons of shooting" until police came to help. "It was horrific," Roig said. "I thought we were going to die." She said that the terrified kids were saying, "I just want Christmas?I don't want to die. I just want to have Christmas." |

start at the 9 minute mark. I totally agree with the senators. 2nd amendment will not go away, I don't want it to go away and these senators hit it right on the head!
"The right of the people to keep and bear arms has been recognized by the General Government; but the best security of that right after all is, the military spirit, that taste for martial exercises, which has always distinguished the free citizens of these States....Such men form the best barrier to the liberties of America" - (Gazette of the United States, October 14, 1789.) "No Free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." (Thomas Jefferson, Proposal Virginia Constitution, 1 T. Jefferson Papers, 334,[C.J.Boyd, Ed., 1950]) "The right of the people to keep and bear...arms shall not be infringed. A well regulated militia, composed of the body of the people, trained to arms, is the best and most natural defense of a free country..." (James Madison, I Annals of Congress 434 [June 8, 1789]) "...to disarm the people - that was the best and most effectual way to enslave them." (George Mason, 3 Elliot, Debates at 380) "Americans have the right and advantage of being armed - unlike the citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms." (James Madison, The Federalist Papers #46 at 243-244) |

so this shooter killed his mother and now brother? |
Quote:
At least that's what the story is ATM... Edit: I meant the FB page was his older brother - Damn it is so confusing.... |
Quote:
The truth is the general public doesn't want gun control, yet we turn around and say "how is this allowed to happen". I wonder if this might be the tipping point. |
Quote:
Lets assume guns are illegal, ok? That does not mean they are not available on the black market. So anyone wanting to preform pre-mediated murder just has to buy a gun illegally and do whatever they want with it. It's that simple and that sad. |

We have very strict gun laws over here in the UK and you still do get people go off thier heads on a shooting spree, but it does not happen very often |
The solution is simple. Arm all teachers. Certify them as trained marksmen. Give them the same training that border guards and immigration officers recieve. Issue them sidearms.
Then heaven help the next little fucker that wants to walk into school and start shooting. I'm not a blame guy, I'm a solution guy. :D |

When I lived over in South Africa i saw our next door neighbour who was normally a very calm and rational guy. One day my older brother got into an arguement with him over something very stupid. This guy took his gun out waved it in my brohters face and threatened to shoot him, luckly he dident but it just proves that a calm guy can very easly kill with a gun. I saw so many shootings over in South Africa. I have a freind in a wheel chair because he was shot in the back after he handed his car keys over and he is a police officer and always carried a gun even when he was off duty, but it did not help him. I was brought up with a gun culture I even had a damm crossbow when I was 12 years old and god knows how many air rifles before I even turned 16. We were taught to shoot .22 rifles at school. My dad always carried a gun with him. I thought nothing of it and really thought that shooting and people getting shot was just the norm, Until we left SA and came back to the UK. It then hit me just what a fucked up sitution I was living in where guns rule and life means fuck all. |
Just opened up the news and saw this and it sent a chill down my spine. This is just
|
I hate guns, but try living in a place where every rapist, common criminal, and cop has one and you will soon understand why arming yourself can feel safer than being a sitting duck.

Not to mention I don't want my grade school kid surrounded by a dozen loaded firearms on a daily basis. Then factor in teachers don't want to be required to pay for their weapons and the schools can't afford to pay for it either. |
