I totally agree with stricter requirements to obtain guns.

There's no real "need" to own assaults rifles but only politicians ask why we "need" certain types of guns. There's absolutely no need for civilians to own .50 Cal rifles yet they sell them. Once someone shoots down a jet with one, then they'll deal with that issue. Until then, no one will ask why they are "needed".

Events like this will continue until someone finds out why these kids feel the "need" to kill others. I think our society is glamorizing militant behavior. Why did that kid dress up in a military style outfit? Why isn't anyone asking why kids "need" graphic video games that are extremely violent?

They already tried banning collapsible stocks and high capacity magazines but determined it had no effect on associated crimes. It takes a trained person a few seconds to swap mags so it's a bit pointless.

There's so much talk about gun control that it's like this psycho wasn't even involved. They even count his body like he was a victim.

Keep putting kids in time out, raised by single mothers and this will continue. They need a good ass whoopin.

Most high school teachers are very unstable.

Realistically though there are more important things to worry about, for example what if one school fires a scud at another, surely every school requires their own scud to act as a deterrent. This is what we should all be talking about instead of guns; US schools need scuds to defend themselves.

It just seems like common sense to me. If you've ever (EVER) had any kind of depression bad enough to have seen a doctor or be put on medication, you should not be allowed to own a firearm - or live in a house that has one. If you own a firearm and you have someone in the house who "might" have mental issues... Your insane.

Maybe that's part of the solution....

- Armed guards at schools.
- Better id of people with mental issues and prevention of them getting firearms.

That kid was planning this for some time so I highly doubt he showed absolutely no signs before killing his mother and 25 other people.

There's a reason for a rise in this time of crime and it's not because assault rifles are more readily available or magazines can hold 30 rounds instead of 10.

That's a very good point. And once one school has missiles ALL schools should have them, just to keep a reasonable balance of power.

In addition, I believe the ban on grenade launchers has been going on long enough here in the US. Why shouldn't responsible citizens of all ages have the freedom to own simple grenade launchers?! We don't need to be coddled by some sort of nanny state!

Logically all students and teachers SHOULD be allowed to carry concealed weapons. I think we can all agree to that, but what happens when a bunch of gun wielding 4th graders gang up on an innocent 3rd grader? Without a grenade launcher, he or she will be outgunned!

edit; 2 weeks ago an empty warehouse that I've been renovating showed signs of an attempted forced entry on a rear door. At night now when I stop by I have a gun with me.

Malls already have security, maybe it's time to arm them. There was also a shooting in a church a while back and a armed security guard took out the shooter. Movies are next.

Bryan, I'm not talking about an argument in a sports bar that turns violent. That I would walk away from without a second thought.

I'm talking about knowing you might be in a vulnerable position because a criminal has targeted you or your property. In that case you either fold and put yourself at the mercy of a criminal or you defend what is yours. Defending myself and property doesn't make me a pussy in my view. Evidently it does in yours and that is what I took offense with.

I wish the world was a peaceful place but it's not, just last week a property of mine I'm renovating right next to a large mall showed signs of a forced entry on a rear door. I drive past this property at night checking on it and yes I have a gun with me when I do. Not because I'm a pussy but because I'm aware of the low life's that respect nothing.

Yea guns are a problem. So is not having one when it's needed. I REALLY do hope you never are in a spot where you are faced with being a target of crime. For me that ship has sailed and I'm ready for it to happen again.

I mean no disrespect to you. I am just sick of seeing innocent people being slaughtered because of guns(especially 6 and 7year old kids). I honestly don't know the solution but seeing what happened last week is revolting. Maybe I'm wrong, perhaps the solution is more guns (I don't think so) but I don't claim to know all. Anyhow I do apologize if I came across as a dick.
