Not having money is misery for millions...

I havn't noticed the unhappy rich giving it away...

But it does not solve all personal issues :2 cents:

To all those who say no... Think on this...

An anonymous benefactor contacts you - Like in 'Great Expectations' by Charles Dickens.

They offer to take over all your expenses. You no longer need to pay mortagae or rent, your utilitys are now covered - Your car payment is taken care of. and all repairs / maintance too... Even fuel...

Even your weekly grocery shop is paid for!

Any expenses that you need to have an essentially happy life are covered.

You can still work - If you want - or not - Your choice... Cause hes even gonna give you $500 'pocket money' a week - Free gratis and for nothing...

So if you want an unnecessary, yet fancy vacation - Work and save up. But if not, dont bother... The only thing is doesn't cover, is abject luxury. IE, you can have a new car every three years, but its a stationwagon - Not a Ferrari GTO.... You'll live for free - But not at large..

AND ITS A LEGIT DEAL - He makes good on it, week in, week out... HE NEVER LETS YOU DOWN...

Would that not make you happier?

If YES then money CAN buy you happiness... If NO... You have problems...

:2 cents:

Cash can buy you happiness as long as you give some of it away. A good thing to keep in mind this holiday season :thumbsup

Money is more universal tool which can be used to purchase many tools (such as a hammer). And all those things and tool you purchase can make you feel better, happier.

It's still simply a tool. As you say, it enables you to do/see/experience things that in turn may bring you happiness, but in and of itself it doesn't bring you happiness, the same as being poor doesn't, the same as speaking a foreign language doesn't. You can be a multi-millionaire, with every possession you could possibly want, and the opportunity to experience countless facets of life, and still be lonely & unhappy.

It's like that other dumb saying "I'd rather be broke and happy than rich and unhappy'. Being broke/rich has fuck all to do with actually being happy/unhappy.

Not necessary. It depends on how you use your money, you can spend them on good deeds and be happy because you helped someone.

You can do plenty (and I mean fucking PLENTY) of good deeds, and be of real use/value/help to someone without money, and still get that rewarding happy feeling. Again, you illustrate my point that it's just a tool.

Yes, money can buy you happiness. It is that simple. Manage it well and it can buy you ecstasy.

Sure its great to head off to a different part of the world on a whim, or buy any type of car you want, or have people treat you well because they think you are rich but there lies the problem. You cannot fully trust a single fucking person besides your mom. I can't keep up with the friends I've lost because they couldn't handle the fact that my life had changed and theirs hadn't and backstabbed in one way or another. Same with most family members. If you're single yea just about every woman loves you, but they don't love you, they love your money. If you're married hopefully you have one of the few decent women (and there arent many) otherwise you're in for more hell when her, every one of her friends and family are trying to figure out a way to fuck you out of everything when things go bad. This is why people with a lot of money are distrusting pricks, because people by nature are selfish parasites and are always thinking in the back of their mind how to get theirs from you.

That's unfortunately very true :-(

Ok lets take 1000 poor and unhappy people. Give them all lots of money. I can bet you that at least some of them would become happy. Here you go - they bought happiness with the money (the tool).
