And you really get a lot of bang for your buck with one.

well it's 75% of an exotic at 25% the price, vettes are designed as the 'every man's' race car and vettes are great fun to drive..

no way... vets are very very fast

what i do not get is an all-new 2014 car with leaf springs? come on man!
that's just stubbornly clinging to outdated tech.

it's a price thing :2 cents:

My thoughts exactly. Perhaps Chevy is afraid of alienating purists of the brand? Losing the leaf springs in favor of independent rear suspension would increase performance and handling greatly!

FYI Losing the leaf springs in favor of independent rear suspension would increase the price greatly... here read this:

Corvette Racing immediately employed the C6 chassis with its C6.R race cars. Corvette Racing has won the 24 Hours of Le Mans seven times since 2001, most recently beating Ferrari to the checkered flag in 2011.

Seth Manson 01-14-2013 12:44 PM

as was stated earlier the corvette and mustang are not in the same league. you tried comparing a top-line mustang with a base-line corvette.

now compare a base-line mustang with a base-line corvette then compare the top-line mustang with the top-line corvette. maybe then you can understand, then tomorrow we can work on the differences between apples and bananas.

Gt500 comes with 662hp stock. Corvette 450hp. It doesnt cost much to put dampers in a car that costs 50-120k. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Im comparing a car of less value to one of the most popular american sports cars which costs more money. Dollar for dollar. If you want we can compare a 50k mustang to a 120k ZR1 which has 638hp. And the top of the line is called the Super Snake which is an 850hp vette eater. Oh and its still cheaper than the zr1 :) :thumbsup

Literally all I was saying for the money the mustang is a better buy, 450hp is not a lot for a corvette especially when the SRT-8 series of cars and higher end mustangs have more HP than that for 10-15k less.

That V6 lacks being lowered, having a v8, brakes, lowered, hood, front bumper, grille, headlights, wing, tail lights, rear valence and interior changes....practically exact things that are different between a c6 vette and a z06 or zr1. Vette's and mustangs are a dime a dozen here theyre nothing special...the point im trying to make is the Gt500 is 10k cheaper and has over 100 more HP. Thats sad when corvettes have been the poster child for american sports cars for years. Oh and they kept the leaf springs.

3,850lb for the GT500
3,000lb for the c7

honestly they are completely different cars that really don't compare... vettes are slalom cars and 'stangs are street racers

We expect a base C7 coupe to cost no more than $55,000, about the same money as a Ford Shelby GT500. That’s a 9-percent price hike over a 2013 Corvette, entirely reasonable given the ultralight construction, more powerful engine, and significantly better gas mileage.

Vettes by you might be a "slalom" car but here in NJ they are a dime a dozen and daily driven. Im not doubting its a better car im many ways, and never said it was a bad vehicle choice. Id rather have a stang and 10k extra in the bank, but hey thats just me.

And not for nothing but that C7 weight figure...considering its not even published is about 2-300lbs off. The zo6 is 3,180 which is lighter than a C6, and the ZR1 is almost 3,400

oh, I get it, it's cheap and chevy has figured out how to make it work but it won't win any bragging awards down at the sunday car meet. if'n yer racin around with your ferrari and porsche bras, be prepared to either lead the way, or get teased for that 1930's suspension. :1orglaugh

Penny24Seven 01-14-2013 02:43 PM

Google 2014 camaro and look at the first vette you see :) and the first mustang HAHA. Not sure why I didn't fix that but it is easy to see why they rank at top of the camaros when it is my vette and mustang shown.

Asparaguss 01-14-2013 03:05 PM

It looks amazing!

GrantMercury 01-14-2013 03:32 PM

It's a sharp looking car, but they need to make sure it continues to look like a Corvette, IMO. I think the design is a bit "busy" and changing the iconic rounded tail lamps was a mistake.

I'd still love one, though. :thumbsup

I get very little agreement in this, but I still think the 1992-1996 Vette is the best.

http://img2.netcarshow.com/Chevrolet...llpaper_04.jpg

I really like the simplicity of the design. The pointed nose make it seem like a missile, and the curvy fender flares and general proportions make it very sexy.

facialfreak 01-14-2013 03:59 PM

So ... this is what happens when a California Ferrari fucks a Camaro! :thumbsup

ImLarge 01-14-2013 05:06 PM

Going to get me one, but black

BFT3K 01-14-2013 05:10 PM

I think the old stingrays were better looking...

This one's also pretty awesome, but I think it was just one of their concept cars...

Since the Stingray I was never really a Corvette fan - but I have to say that this one is quite sexy, so props to them for that.

As for price..... fuck all of you guys. Where I live I can MAYBE get a 3 year old Honda Accord for $50K LOLLLL

Supz 01-14-2013 07:28 PM

Not much of a change.

GMC is really trying at beating japanese markets.. so the warranties, time and energy spent on these cars is really quite incredible

interesting that a 60k car is always rated against a 200k car isn't it?

No, HP isn't everything. The Mustang might be cheaper, and have more horsepower. But that doesn't make it a better buy. :2 cents:

That's what I saw. Still a pretty car with a nice interior. Love to see it in black with red highlights.

The rear of the new Vette looks good, like it has been fucked up for years and they finally figured out how to fix it. I definitely like the new look.

that's who chevy decided to pit the car against. 911 beater, etc.

dyna mo 01-14-2013 11:47 PM

oh, I meant to say too that I agree, the corvette deserves to be aligned with those cars, those cars don't have $50,000+ more tech, considering a base 911 is ~$100k, maybe pushing it with the 458, considering ferrari does bring that f1 knowledge. but does a 458 have 5x the tech and capability of the new vette? no.
