But I guess you are admitting that branding on my site must help a lot. Perhaps you guys should sponsor the next event. |

Unfortunately, the branding didn't work for me. I actually just checked out your site for the first time tonight. Not because it's a bad site, but because I haven't been to a show since you started "pimping" the show pics. You probably were back then, but I was more aware of JFK at the time. That really isn't meant to be a insult in anyway, I am just being honest. I like what you represented in the biz. However I won't be back. I want to support what I feel is the sustainable model of this industry. I don't want to support the people outside of that sustainable model. Those include people or companies that engage in content theft, patent trolling, TLD trolling and people/companies that defraud their surfers and affiliates. Is that a pipe dream? Yes, absolutely, but I will stick with it as long as I can. I get that we all need to pay our bills, but I will still clear of doing business with you until your reverse course. And yes, I have never sent you a check, so this conversation probably doesn't mean much to you or me, but you never know. |
Well, there are several advertisers on the site; so . . .
As far as creating a TLD ghetto, why did I never see you at a protest if you truly believed that. |
Quote:
I get it. I don't take issue with your business decision, however I do take issue with you not owning it. Why wasn't I at a protest? Because I live in Seattle and I never got word of one here. Would I have went, probably not. However I did protest with my wallet and my voice. I opposed .xxx publicly and I have never bought one domain. Look dude, I respect you but own the sponsorship and support the people who paid you. I have seen you engage in some really great debates here at GFY when you want to and this effort is weak. Why? More then likely because you don't really believe in this one. So no offense, however you look a bit foolish to question my beliefs on the matter when I own no .XXX domains and have never supported them publicly, while you admit to having been to a protest (IN PERSON) and you now have the logo on your site. I made a mild protest and stayed the course, you committed to marching on the issue and back tracked. It is what it is, but own it. :thumbsup |

The protest was in San Francisco and pretty well publicized to the adult community. I drove up there. It would be an easy flight for a program owner of a long time successful program; right? Everyone knew the day the vote would be taken, so there was another reason for you to show up. Hell, you sponsor the FSC, how could you not know about it? If you honestly felt that strongly about the issue; and apparently you should since you are a program owner and it would effect you a lot more than it will ever effect me, then there is no reason why you should not have been there. :2 cents: About your earlier comment; "I don't want to support the people outside of that sustainable model. Those include people or companies that engage in content theft, patent trolling, TLD trolling and people/companies that defraud their surfers and affiliates." What does any of that have to do with me or my site? Oh yeah, do you block traffic from .xxx domains? |

What was sad was there were very few SF webmasters there. Some came and stood to the side as I recall. I don't see anything in the yanks TOS suggesting .XXX sites are forbidden. I am sure that will be modified soon. |

I believe strongly in a lot of things and don't fly to every protest. It's a good diversion tactic though to make this about me, vs. the .XXX logo on your pics. Like I said, I get it, we all need to pay our bills. I would just be nice if the cool people left in the biz stayed away from the people and companies who come in and rape us from time to time. I am crystal clear on my .XXX stance. I don't by them, I don't support them. |

My stand is that .XXX and the movement behind it was bad for the core of this industry. It was a play to make a very small amount of people a large amount of money that was then unrelated to the industry's ongoing success. Like I said before I will not spend my day explaining to you how .XXX could have gone awry and could do so in the future, your smart, you get it. You clearly are a proponent of search.xxx and .XXX. I am not |
