Limitations:
Unfortunately, we can't work with hosting companies based in the United States. Safe harbour for service providers via the Digital Millennium Copyright Act has been undermined by the Department of Justice with its novel criminal prosecution of Megaupload. It is not safe for cloud storage sites or any business allowing user-generated content to be hosted on servers in the United States or on domains like .com / .net. The US government is frequently seizing domains without offering service providers a hearing or due process.

He could have turned up at the court or sent a lawyer to contest the domain seizure. They don't have the power to just seize domains without due process, they got it because it was a default judgement and Kim didn't turn up so he's not telling the truth there, is he?

"They" assassinate people without due process. Doubt they are going to worry much about a domain name.

Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story.

We've hit some of the largest file lockers there are, people like Kaktuz are not legitimate webmasters they are thieves, we have had zero involvement with hacking and companies that cater to pirates or do not co-operate with anti-piracy efforts are fair game.

I wondering about that myself..

x1000

But still, it's weird how he uses a shithole domain like that. And rule #1: don't let your visitors wait when they hit your site. The loading thing is just stupid.

Sorry, NZ isn't a shithole.

Dude, a new site that gets pounded by traffic will 9 out of 10 times crash.
Eventhough they expected it. They need some time to load balance the servers.

shimmy2 01-19-2013 05:53 PM

I just saw that they got 100,000 registered users in the first hour and 250,000 users in the first 4 hours so I could see how that might cause some issues.

Jay - SMASH 01-19-2013 06:11 PM

The raid has been 1 year ago? Time flies.

rebel23 01-19-2013 06:18 PM

Kimble is now comparing himself to Julian Assange and the Reddit co-founder.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology...ternet-freedom

Unbelievable... he has no shame.

Hopefully his new service is shut down faster than the last one and he gets more indictments from the Department of Justice along with any hosting provider who hosts the encrypted child porn and copyrighted content.

livexxx 01-19-2013 06:21 PM

nice model
User encrypts data,
servers store encrypted content
gets raided, hands over fully encrypted servers
LOL

4rd parties sell users public keys, lets see who you can pin that one one

You should probably stick to selling your shitty $70 domains and let the people who know what they're doing discuss server issues and what causes sites to go down. :2 cents:

The MPAA and DoJ will take care of Mega, far more powerful than AK. I'm sure AK will work with them though.

pimpmaster9000 01-20-2013 04:32 AM

It's probably going to end up leading to further worldwide anti-encryption laws.

Without paying the upload monkeys to fill it full of shit, he may end up with a mostly legit file locker. So be it. There will always be room for legitimate file lockers. Though, his ego will be his eventual downfall.

Are you calling for for Kim Dotcom to be killed?

Seems like one Hell of the violation of The Rules to me!

Because they are going to do to him similar to what they did to the punk of the pirate bay.

They fed into his love of drugs and children. Then when he was broke and causing problems the Cambodian police only had to be reminded that Gottfrid Svartholm adventures would bring a lot of unwanted press and internation pressure on them and Cambodia.

They need to take down the creeps without turning them into martyrs. Kim Dotcom is an ego maniac. So we will see what happens
