Wasn't this true of cybercat spots and drinkinghards business back when they pushed tgp traffic. The affiliate could not buy the spots and do ok and it got to the point where the pay sites could not either. But people still bought feeling if they broke even it would work out as their volume was up.

Big blocks of traffic sell for more then it is "worth".

Buying an ad spot is a whole different animal. If you buy a link on The Hun you should be easily able to get a great ROI on that.

When we used to sell ad spots on our TGP's I know for a fact that people made great money with it because we would only sell a handful because we made so much money off of our tgp's ourselves that we didn't want to sell those spots to other people

Matter of fact I was just hanging out with Angel (Exploited) at Internext and he was reminiscing that he used to send me ten grand a month every month and it was the best money he ever spent.

Tube traffic is nowhere near the quality that we had (or the Hun has, or any of the REAL, non-circlejerk TGP's had)

On a related note, I was told by a few people that advertising my sites on the major tube sites is the way to get them exposure and get them making good money. I decided to test this out by partnering up with a large tube site (that shall rename nameless) and uploaded a video that quickly got well over 100,000 views and a 90% approval rating. Lots of positive viewer feedback about the model and the site. Yet, out of the thousands and thousands of clicks the banner got... it only made one sale. Figuring it may just be some weird fluke I uploaded another great video that got a ton of views and banner clicks yet that also made one sale.

Most people using tube sites aren't about to shell out money for a site. Why would they when they can get everything for free? Made me really wonder how these tube sites do make money. I'm sure most of it's because of Google.

Me too. Would love to see how much they make off PPC ads and pop-ups compared to sales. My guess is that is where alot of cash is coming in.

Notice they have movie trailers on their sites now too, Just seen "Movie 42" so far. But shows they are dipping into other forms of ads.

2.4m views on 1 tube, average rating 77% (across 17 vids), good comments, 3 sales. Obviously there are variables involved, but I've yet to see glowing praise from any paysite owner who is a content partner.

I take that info as the truth about tube traffic. You tried it, you saw the results. You're reporting the same thing that I and other paysite owners have seen with it.

Yes...our common sense and judgement was 100% right on the money when we all first thought: "Hey, if you give away the WHOLE thing (not just small clips or pictures) then they don't need to actually buy it and certainly not rebill"

My own stats with tubes:
2k paid for advertising on extremetube.com, 2k made back, 0 profit.

Pretube stats:
Around 100k paid for galleries on topspots of Thehun.com and Sleazydream.com from 2004-2008 and made around 250-300k and around 150-200k net profit.
Best gallery made me around 1.2k net (around 60 sales) for 300usd paid spot.
Those were the good old days....

I stopped advertings on Thehun in 2008 as my profit was slowly decreasing to 0

I really want a large content producer to go to the same judge who seized megaupload.com and convince them of "thieving tubes"

Present the evidence and seize all the .com's of the largest tubes on the net.

A lot of these tube sites claim to be legit and get their content from partners which is total bullshit. I've found more than a few of my clips on various tube sites over the years and the owners definitely didn't have my permission. Very frustrating to put all the time and effort into producing quality content only to have it given away for free.
