Hell, most of the civilized world doesn't NEED to own guns. They are constantly being issued military uniforms and being GIVEN guns to kill the people in the next country over. :1orglaugh

yeah ok civilized may not be best choice of words, anyway I just dont see how owning guns to some people is the essence of freedom but mainly I wanted to post that will ferrell pic as I think it's hilarious and sums up the post i originally quoted.

after the port arthur massacre in Aus where something like 35 people were killed there was none of this left vs right politicized debate like ive seen here blah blah freedom, my rights. It was just like 35 people are dead, thats unacceptable, fuck this we dont want it to happen again and the conservative government at the time took all of 12 days to pass new laws and enact strict gun control. 0 mass shootings since then.

If a politician or public person says something and gets heckled I'm fine with it, that's part of the deal.

When someone who is a private person has their child murdered (whether it was done with a gun or a balloon) no matter what he says, whether you agree with it or not... You just quietly sit there and let him say it. The problem here is that a formerly private person decided to go say things to a public legislature, not a few people in his kitchen. The heckling is in poor taste and not something I'd ever do, but he did give up his privacy voluntarily when he decided to become a public speaker. Personally, I think the hecklers helped his cause more than they harmed it. If he really wants guns restricted, he should hope to be heckled every time a television camera is around.

Heslin posed a question to the audience and paused. The gun advocates in the room clearly withheld responding until after he declared that no one was able to answer him. And upon their shouting of “the Second Amendment” as the reason they should be able to possess “assault weapons,” Heslin was remarkably civil — as was the crowd, which quieted down almost immediately.

Seems like heckled was not a proper description of what happened in this case. He asked a question and paused. When he paused some people responded to the question and then quieted down when asked to.

TheFootMan5 01-30-2013 12:54 PM

Weren't guns used in the invasion or iraq and afghanistan?

Yet we want that same group of people to get MORE guns after 1 million deaths? Oh ok

I know you're to simple minded and retarded to understand that rights are granted to all Americans, not just the ones you or I agree with. But that's how it works over here. Take your weak ass trolling attempts somewhere else.

TisMe 01-30-2013 01:09 PM

I've protested the Westboro Baptist group's appearances at funerals several times.

I'm protesting their message, not their right to be there. I think it's terrible of them to desecrate a military funeral with their anti-gay crap, but that's their right.

Enjoying Freedom of Speech comes with the obligation to support those same rights for people even when their message makes you sick.

USA is addicted to guns like a drug addict, time to cure it before it is too late. NRA has blood of innocent children on their hands, are you people blind ?

candyflip 01-30-2013 02:39 PM

You all got trolled, hard. MSNBC edited this to make it look like this.

Search out the unedited version and be appalled that a "news" agency would stoop to this sort of journalism...again.

What does that have anything to do with anything?

Then promote peaceful parenting or take the guns and drones away from the government

The guns were in fact legally purchased.

This is what gun nuts do not understand - the more firearms we have out there, the more that will be stolen. The more firearms we have out there, the more chances there is the mentally ill and criminals will get them.

Two things we need for sure is a requirement to register firearms, and more legal responsability behind the firearms - meaning, if your firearm is not secured and is used to kill twenty school children well then you go to prison for that crime too.

As for the registration, it boggles my mind this isn't a federal requirement. My father died in Vietnam and he left behind a number of handguns. Forty-five years alter no one in my family can tell me what happened to them. That's scary.

Kind of like Operation Fast and Furious?

The freedom to bear arms.

The freedom not to have your children shot.

I reckon about 8500 Americans a year regret they didn't live in Europe.

(because they have been murdered by guns )

Americans aren't addicted to guns, they are addicted to freedom, and the ability to defend that freedom if necessary.

The shooter had to steal them.

They don't care about that though, it doesn't fit their agenda that every gun owner is a total psycho who would heckle someone who lost a child to gun violence...

Not only did MSNBC grossly edit this footage, they are now doing everything they can to remove the edited version from the web.

They completely changed the story to suit an agenda. And it couldn't have been more obvious after seeing both videos.

Just another day at the office for the mainstream media. That's all they are nowadays - agenda driven. They don't report news anymore. They create it.

Those types of tragedies barely ever happen. Out of all the millions of people who own guns... how many of them go around shooting innocent children? Like .000000000001% of them. Get real.

NRA stands up for our constitutional rights and people bash them and act like they are responsible for the actions of some demented individual... the logic is so ridiculous it's not even funny...

In response to repeated attacks on the Second Amendment rights, NRA formed the Legislative Affairs Division in 1934. While NRA did not lobby directly at this time, it did mail out legislative facts and analyses to members, whereby they could take action on their own. In 1975, recognizing the critical need for political defense of the Second Amendment, NRA formed the Institute for Legislative Action, or ILA.

Yep and good ol' GrantMercury has now disappeared from the thread.

Once again the liberal media have edited a video to fool the American people and push an agenda.

It's fucking crazy.

And not one person on the left is raising their voice against this kind of bullshit.

Where are you GrantMercury?
Don't you think the title of this thread should be: "Left Wing Sicko Liars Try To Mislead The American People Again" ?

Robbie 01-30-2013 08:21 PM

Also kinda funny how I always hear the howling about how biased Fox News is.

But this is just one of many videos that NBC has edited and tried to push a liberal agenda with and then had to back down and apologize.

Fox News has NEVER done that!

Why don't liberals complain about NBC?
The answer is because they are hypocrites.

Thank goodness that none of the news channels is a puppet of the Libertarian Party.
My party is clean. You Repubs and especially you Dems are so dirty and hypocritical that it's ridiculous.

Incorrect. My family in the past has been irresponsible - namely my mother who legally owned the firearms. She claims she doesn't have them, My brother claims he knew nothing about them, and my step father (long since divorced from my mother) claims he doesn't have them either. It's entirely possible that she left them behind when she sold the house; She left most of the furniture behind when she moved cross country days after the divorce was final. No one is even sure how many fire arms there was - three or four is my guess.

Doesn't matter much I guess. Anyone can get a firearm and no one tracks anything, so it doesn't matter at all.
