The British version of House of Cards was pretty much a trilogy of mini series. So, three 'seasons' of four episodes each. They did a really good job of fleshing the first US season out without making it feel weak. It also introduced the phrase "You might very well think that; I couldn't possibly comment." into the British language.

The parallels they drew from aspects of modern American culture to the recently post-Thatcher UK were also really well done. In particular the Philadelphia ship yard in place of the coal mines.

I hope they go the British way of short, sweet and quality rather than drag it on season after season but so far, so good.

The British version is on Netflix instant too, btw.

Oh yes. And plan to do 5 shows a year. It's a real game changer.

I dont know. It says filming will begin this spring. But the show was originally signed for 2 seasons. So they will be a 2nd season for sure. Looks like if they start shooting in spring. maybe around the same time next year. maybe late fall into winter.

For real. I have been boring actor friends this week by telling them they need to start blowing Netflix executives now.

3 episodes in and I'm highly addicted already.

Amazing!

The original bbc series starring Ian Richardson was awesome. I still re-watch it every now and then.

Wonder how the Emmys handle this going forward. I'm not sure if anybody else remembers way back at the start of cable when they had to have their own awards show. I think it was called the ACE Awards. Then eventually the Emmys had to welcome them into the nomination fold. Wonder if this will be the start of what pushes internet broadcasting into the mix.

The bad news of it being out all at once, it doesn't have weeks to gain new viewers etc. I wonder how its numbers are now?

baddog 02-19-2013 11:16 AM

goodgirl just started watching it; as a result I have seen parts of a few episodes. Not interesting enough to keep me as a viewer.

I just finished the first season and loved it. Very well done. I look forward to seeing where they take it from here.

I started to watch it, then turned it off. Just wasn't in the mood for politics that night.

Starting watching it this weekend. Pretty good so far.

I loved the first season of House of Cards. Finished it last weekend Enjoyed Lilyhammer as well. Lilyhammer S2 is currently filming right now. I enjoy Kevin Spacey, but getting a whole new appreciation for Robin Wright.

Yeah, Wright was very good, and sexy, in this show. I thought the entire cast was very good.

Surprised they put up all the episodes at once though, that's is really odd.

That's exactly the kind of thing Reed Hastings wants to change about viewer perception of content. He hates the concept of the cable companies forcing you to wait a week to watch content they have already produced and are sitting on, just for the purpose of selling hype.

She played her part with just the right amount of understatement.

MaxCandy 02-19-2013 09:57 PM
