Dude I live in a city neighborhood. A few months back someone attempted a home invasion on my street and were run off by the owner and his rifle. They then proceeded to drop the loaded 9mm in my bushes and hide behind my garage.

I'm not a gun owner and have never shot one. Chicago has the strictest gun laws in the country and the highest murder rate. 70% of gun murders in the US are gang members shooting eachother. Oh well.

Chicago does not have the highest murder rate, its not even in the top 10. New Orleans does. Followed by Detroit, St. Louis, Newark, Baltimore, Oakland, etc, etc.

I'm guessing that they don't count all the people that get killed there during the back and forth with Israel in their murder stats. My comment was meant to say that if you lived on the Gaza strip your chances of getting killed are huge compared to you or I living here in the USA just because of the political situation there and all the violence between the Palestinians and Israel.

Because muskets were the latest technology - so citizens had the technological equivalent of government military forces. They didn't specify "muskets", but rather "arms". This is because everything is a violent crime to them. It is well known they f ed up their own stats by changing the definition of violent crime.

Unless I am very wrong, there are 101 countries who have averages per 100,000 worse than USA, and 103 countries who have better.

So USA is not even in the top half by that metric, and is roughly the median of the countries listed.
