Exactly. I've been to those meetings with artists. You sit at a table with a demon [A&R rep]
and a company figurehead who just want you to sign on the dotted line so they can own
your publishing, in exchange for a petty cash advance and eventually, the music
you loved so much, you now abhor, because it's no longer in your soul.
You're now doing the devils dance until they no longer need you. After you're washed up, they resell your
music catalog and image over and over.
Then, you die broke like Sammy Davis. The record company is "the devil".
This is not hard to figure out.
