I was born in Calgary. Have you seen Calgary? There is a reason it's nicknamed "Cowtown". It's a backwater shithole city that prides itself on having the "Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth" the Stampede :1orglaugh:1orglaugh. Please!! The GOSOE? Come on, it's the one time of the year that everyone is so nice to the natives living there because they need them to put on a good show at the parade LOL. And I'm a white guy but even I see how hypocrite the people are. But the natives are too dumb to notice it and they help "sell" the whole Stampede theme :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Sorry, to disappoint, but it hurts huh when one of your own doesn't see Canada through those rose colored glasses other Canadians seem to do. Just read http://ca.yahoo.com/ and it's a bunch of biggest bullshit Canadians try to convince themselves. I swear if I didn't know any better, after reading some of the bs articles on the Canadian yahoo site, I would think that Canada was responsible for world peace, curing AIDs, because every damn article is always how the country is doing such a great job at this and a great job at that. Or how they found a "breakthrough cure" for something. Then when I go to the US yahoo site or CNN, there is no mention of this "breakthrough" :1orglaugh:1orglaugh And the delusional retards like to whine how we are the "best" in hockey except it's always a pleasure when I see the US, Russians, Swedes kick their asses and then they cry and whine and make up a tons of excuses why they lost :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

The day I moved out of that rathole of a country to the US, my girlfriend cried and thought we were moving out of heaven or the garden of eden or something because she was brainwashed with the "Canada is better than US" propanganda bs or "Canada is a better place to live than US" but it took 1 week in south beach before she told me "I think you were right all along about home" :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh.

One of the more disgusting things when people talk shit about their own home town. Says a lot about his/her character.

Have you seen the freaking military? It's a joke, Finland with it's crappy army 1/100 the size of Canada could take over Canada if they wanted to. When Canada sent it's troops to the middle east for the war...the military commanders in their infinite military wisdom...wait for the best part....they sent the troops in full jungle camo gear....:1orglaugh:1orglaugh...yes full green jungle army gear to the middle of a war fought in the damn desert :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Then when the arrived in the middle east, they were ridiculed and had to go to the military suplus store to buy clothing dye to dye their uniforms the sandy color while they waited for the gov't back home to order them desert colored army gear. The country is joke and I don't even need to make this shit up :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

I tell it like it is. No point lying about it. Honesty sometimes hurt but the truth don't lie. :thumbsup

EliteWebmaster, good that you found a place more suitable for you. Everyone should enjoy where they live and, if not, relocate.

Just curious though, if you have such an obvious disdain for your homeleand, have you surrendered your passport and renounced your Canadian citizenship? Clearly Canada is not a place you ever want to be.

Thanks robwood for the kind words, I'm in a happy place, both professionally and emotionally. True, south beach has it's share of problems but overall, it's a nice place and a vibrant place to live. As you mentioned, everyone should enjoy where they live so I'm happy and so is my girlfriend now :thumbsup

I still hold my canadian citizenship, but it's not by choice but a promise to my parents since they still hold out hope that I will want to come home to retire and and take over the family business. So out of respect to my parents, I still maintain the citizenship and the downside to that is I still pay taxes for a country I absolutely dislike.

And a mini bit of trivial, out of all the western developed countries, Canada is the most taxed country in the world. So I'm still getting screwed not living there :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

EliteWebmaster: for the record, I've lived in Calgary as well and absolutely hated it. I did like the Okanagan Valley in BC, and I spent many years in Ontario. I came to the East Coast for a visit in 1990, and haven't left. I never even went back to move my stuff out, I hired a moving company to go there, pack up everything for me. I'm quite fond of Nova Scotia -- and not a cowboy hat anywhere:)

you can't judge a whole country by living in one place. so how did you manage to move to the US? its not that easy.

Nova Scotia was not bad at all. One of the better places for sure along with PEI, the people there are more relaxed, easy going individuals, likeable :) and you're right, no cowboy hat in sight :thumbsup

I have been to most parts of Canada so it's not like I judged the country by living in one place. I was fortunate to be able to travel and live in other parts of the country. And as mentioned, strangely enough, I find that the people in eastern canada along the coastal parts to be quite nice and not really brainwashed with the bs that plagued the rest of the country.

Moving to the US was not that hard as I had a advance degree in Computer Science and I had a company here that recruited me and later on, the owner of the firm helped me attain citizenship.

Many countries are full of propaganda pumping up their own. America is probably one of the worse ones for this. I guess if you really believe its the best place on earth or something it wouldn't seem like brainwashing to you. This brainwashing as you call it is just nationalism. I used to want to live in the US, then 911 happened and I decided against it. Being self employed I wouldn't have a chance in hell anyways.
