Any smart phone can navigate with no problems via a normal website, using the zoom in and zoom out, touchscreen.

of course there's no reason:

Smartphones represented only 18 percent of total global handsets in use in 2012, but represented 92 percent of total global handset traffic. In 2012, the typical smartphone generated 50 times more mobile data traffic (342 MB per month) than the typical basic-feature cell phone (which generated only 6.8 MB per month of mobile data traffic).

Anyone who can't take an 82% traffic loss is a wimp :thumbsup

8%. You would lose the 8% that use a non smart phone and that is 8% of mobile so less then half so less then 4% of your total and no fucking way for them to spend 40 minutes to sign up on a non smart phone anyways.

Are you insane? The very site you are posting on, GFY.com, is maddening to navigate with the full version on a mobile device. Who the hell wants to zoom in and out non-stop to read each thread on a text heavy forum. It's madness!

I always want the actual desktop version.

Yet the entire web is being re-written to work on mobile devices. Am I the only one who hates mobile versions of websites?
I dont remember the last time I used an actual app, maybe months ago.

This is how Steve Jobs felt, and how he wanted to showcase the iphone's ability to give you an uncompromised web experience. It's why apple.com has no mobile version

Drake 03-27-2013 08:37 PM

I agree with OP

I think you're probably in the minority of people with that last statement. Zooming in and out all the time is a nightmare. I hate it with a passion. There's no way thats user friendly.

We're working on making our sites mobile friendly at the moment and it won't be long.

badoink buys a lot of traffic fro mus but thats not the reason im pushing them.
i work only in mobile and optimising for a mobile device is super important from a money making point of view as ctrs on incorrect sized banners is a nightmare.
i hear the comments on the seeminly standard mobile designs and think they are already looking very tired.
from a tube pov and mobile i like the idea of tiles on the landing page which badoink do a few times on their tours and i suspect it works well.
a site that closed down last year called something like iphonepornblablahblah ran with a tile version and it was excellent.
my 5 cents worth!

Even Amazon and eBay I prefer the desktop version.

Well said Roald, lol...that dude is too funny!

There are tons of good reason to create mobile optimized sites in terms of convenience simplicity and brand appeal. I also am not a big fan of a lot of the mobile sites out there, but they do serve an important purpose nonetheless. With the advent of responsive design and the evolution of mobile devices there will soon be more of a uniformity and streamlined user-experience. This may not mean that you will prefer to view mobile site over website, but it does mean that you will be much more accepting of it...and who knows, you may even like it.

I may have a slightly biased perspective on the value and needs for a mobile site because it's my business, but as someone who basically lives on my iPhone and iPad, I also understand the frustration of surfing many a shitty mobile site....so I do feel your pain.

I guess what I'm really trying to say is...JUST SUCK IT UP AND QUIT YOUR BITCHIN'!! :1orglaugh:winkwink::1orglaugh

I and many others as you can see in this TOPIC, HATE a lot mobile versions of websites. We want the Full site.

Go ahead and do it, you don't have a sense of what people want. Thus you will FAIL and lose all your surfers. You don't have timing nor sense of what people want.

People don't want what you want to offer. Open your eyes.

Same message goes for that guy with the 80's retro camera on his avatar. Quite funny.

I don't get the whole mobile porn thing myself.. when I'm ready to jerk off, I don't wanna be holding my cell phone looking at a tiny screen when I do it.

jgabra62 03-29-2013 08:21 PM

This is a fun thread :)

no, 82%.

they represent 92% of data traffic, which makes sense since they can afford more images and full size version, thus smartphones averaged for 342Mb a month against 6.8Mb from non smartphones.

So, what this stat means is that you're serving 92% of your bandwidth to 18% of total cell phone users.

Thank goodness you aren't the type of people we are targeting out in the world...or else guys like me would be totally out of business!
However, I totally agree...my business thrives on people who look at porn on their mobile devices and I don't understand it for the life of me :)
