And why is that a problem for you? If tax office don't accept your digital money, then it's only their problem. :)

I don't see what there is to hate about it from the webmaster end. Maybe (or maybe not) it's risky investment wise but as far as accepting donations go I just set that up on a site and it was incredibly easy. 0% fees. No worrying about Paypal's anti-adult bullshit. I'm not expecting much as I haven't pushed it yet but it's easy to see that it has a lot of potential for certain sites. The biggest obstacle right now is that not everyone is educated about bitcoins. But this should change as it gains ground.

6South 04-01-2013 12:47 AM

While I share the concerns about bitcoin and the IRS (look at other alternative currencies such as the "liberty dollars" for an example on how the Feds tend to deal w/ people setting up their own currencies...) if you think about it the level of risk is probably slightly higher than Paypal.

Paypal seizes accounts daily for little cause but as long as it doesn't happen to "you" people really don't appreciate the level of risk. It's manageable though via specific strategies (get your money out quickly and often) which would probably apply to bitcoin.

Where it might be worth accepting in the short term and for very low cost products my concern is that sooner or later the legislative loopholes will be closed. You can count on that, the Feds move slow but they WILL move on it sooner or later. How that impacts the people using it depends entirely on HOW they use it and what their role in it might be. (I would avoid taking any role involving the promotion or sale of bitcoin / bitcoin related products if subject to US jurisdiction / extradition, personally).

The spread is tight.
Highly indicative of large gains or drops in the short term.
Lot of $1 litecoins floating around too if anyone cares.

The asics are going to cut off the majority of the network who are GPU miners.
So they are moving to litecoins and the price of them doubled in the past week.
It revolves around the return per 100/mh and that's about to be 0.00 for bitcoins.

Best-In-BC 04-01-2013 06:23 AM

The real Losers are the ones who buy into this, lol, there dumber than any conspiracy theorists!

dyna mo 04-01-2013 06:29 AM

what's so weird about the haters is how they continually feel the need to call people interested in btc names and such, yet it seems like the people around here chatting about btc are simply sharing information and helping others become acquainted with the technology, not calling people names and shit for not getting it.

I'm not a hater, I just fail to see the practicality of it's daily use. As far as speculation investments go some will make big bucks some will lose their ass, what's new.

.

MikeRoth 04-01-2013 06:35 AM

The last time I checked paypal does not allow buying/selling of bitcoin through their service. Everyone switched to Dwolla.com is this still the case with paypal or did they start allowing it after the massive success of Dwolla?

Nothing wrong with accepting bitcoins as payment, it is risky with this weird bitcoin craze hiking the price up so high. But once the bubble pops and the price settles down it should be OK. If you were to accept it you'll just need to cash out right away.

I know a lot of vendors last year were making a killing when people would pay them $50 in bitcoins, the money would stay in escrow until the buyer accepted the product, by the time the vendor received the money it was worth $60-$70. However when the price crashed the opposite would happen in which case they would charge more to help offset it.

i don't think you are a hater, you've simply pointed out the tax implications, and made a decision that btc isn't for you and stated that. i have not seen you call people names or say we're loosers/losers,idiots, etc, et al, on & on.

No, we're trying to save you from wasting your money, that is really all, its hard not to call someone a idiot who is acting like one, and you must be one buying into bit coins.

Dirty F 04-01-2013 07:38 AM

Damn, litecoin is exploding and i have no option to fund my account!
i sent 1 bitcoin as a test and it didn't arrive!

MikeRoth 04-01-2013 07:44 AM

no, you are clinging to your assuming you know wtf you are talking about, you do not.

look, i know this will not get through to you, but you have no idea what will happen.

calling people idiots based on you assuming you can predict the future, not to mention your stating *your an idiot* certainly reveals much more about you than me.

Actually i hope Litecoin won't do anything. I just want to concentrate on Bitcoin.
But it's hard to ignore right now.
