The only problem is, money brings bad things. Promoters would turn that shit into wwf style fighting in no time. There would be new rules, and then they would theme it out and have costumes and shit. I can see it all now.

If someone like Boneprone ran the UFC? Cmon now. Dont let the asian Don King into that shit.

Dont fool yourself.
You think the owners of UFC do this for love of the game?

Come on. They could care less about the sport or the fighters.
They just wanna get paid.

Dont think the current owners whoever they may be are above all this. The only reason they havent done anything smart with thier marketing and promotions and the figheters live off welfare is because they are probably too fucking stupid to do otherwise.

Its all about getting paid.
Always is.

boneprone 02-23-2003 01:49 AM

someone get me in the front door

boneprone 02-23-2003 01:51 AM

Sure guys like Shamrock would still get thier ass kicked by guys like Tito, but at least he'd look good getting his ass kicked being escorted in and out of the ring by his "HO TRAIN"

You know you like it.

MetaMan 02-23-2003 01:56 AM

the fight was a dive,
we arent talking about tyson in his prime here people,

this entire fight is based on the Tyson can get beat by Lewis but the "bad man" can work his way back up to win defeat,

people love bad boys

I dont think that was a dive.
It was a fixed match Ill agree.
But it was fixed not in that the fighter was told to take a dive.
It was fixed because they set him up with a chump they knew he'd pound on and re-create his validity in the ring.

This isnt no secret.
But fuck. Did you see that punch? It wasnt no phantom.

I think if the WWE and UFC collaborated on some stuff together that this would be the next goldmine. Obviously they have cross over talent with guys like Tank Abbott and Dan Severn to the WWE. But if you brought over commentators to the UFC and more exciting rules to it I think they could revive the UFC back to it's previous glory. Personally I don't watch any UFC's anymore because I find them to be a big hump fest and the exciting mismatches aren't going on anymore. It used to be the best when you would get some sumo wrestler in there against some 150 pound crazy ninja fighter. That way you never knew what could happen!

If it could only be the toughman pyramid contests like it used to be not this pre-matched horseshit. Just my :2 cents:

Exactly. For a sport that brought out the importance of adapting and evolving one's fight styles, the evolving and adapting it has done as a presentation has been lacking. In fact it is going in the wrong direction.

MetaMan 02-23-2003 02:12 AM

i need to see the Tonya Harding match, haha i heard she lost but whateve that bitch is nuts,

womens boxing is insane, they have no style and dont block, 3 rounds of an all out war!

boneprone 02-23-2003 03:28 AM

yeah ive been looking for fottage of that fight also.
Cant find it anywhere

KC 02-23-2003 04:45 AM

Hopefully it'll be on HBO or Showtime shortly..

I missed it too.. I forgot all about that dude.

Thomas N 02-23-2003 09:39 AM

My understanding of having weight classes in the UFC, is that is what was required to keep it legal here in the states. Bummer but thats the way it goes I guess.

True there was nothing as memorable as some of the mismatches of the old days. I always loved watching Keith Hackne pound the shit out of 600lb Emmanual Yarborro. Classic. Even though he broke his arm on that fatass's head.
